The Cincinnati Reds head to Tropicana Field on Monday night as they open a three-game set against the Tampa Bay Rays. Cincinnati has quietly been one of the more reliable teams in baseball through the first few weeks, stacking wins with a balanced lineup and a bullpen that has delivered in tight spots. Tampa Bay has put together a solid record of its own and enters this contest near the top of the AL East, giving this Reds vs Rays matchup a playoff-like feel despite the calendar still being in April.

Reds vs Rays Model Projection
- Score Projection: Cincinnati Reds 5 - Tampa Bay Rays 3
- Win Probability: Cincinnati Reds 58%, Tampa Bay Rays 42%
The edge in this matchup comes down to pitching and bullpen reliability. Cincinnati hands the ball to Lowder, who has been steady through his first four outings and has already shown he can keep opposing hitters in check. While he may not overpower lineups, his ability to limit damage and pitch into the middle innings sets up a bullpen that has been among the league’s most effective. And without a clear pitching plan in place for the Rays here, I'll take the Reds to grab a victory to open this three-game set.
