Atlanta Braves vs Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction: Possible NLCS Preview Begins In LA

Friday night baseball includes the opening game of one of the biggest series of the season as the Atlanta Braves head west to face the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Atlanta enters the matchup with the best record in baseball at 26-12, while Los Angeles sits close behind at 23-14. Both clubs carry elite lineups, deep bullpens, and postseason expectations into the first game of their three-game Braves vs Dodgers series this weekend.
Chris Sale has looked rejuvenated this season for the Braves. The veteran left-hander owns a 6-1 record with a 2.14 ERA and 49 strikeouts through 42 innings. On the other side, the Dodgers are expected to hand the ball to Emmet Sheehan, who has shown swing-and-miss stuff but has also allowed too much hard contact, posting a 5.23 ERA across 31 innings.
Sale has turned back the clock during the opening month of the season. His fastball command has improved significantly, and hitters are struggling against his slider once again. He enters Friday with a 0.90 WHIP while limiting opponents to just 26 hits in 42 innings. The Dodgers' lineup can punish mistakes, but Sale has consistently worked deep into games while avoiding damage.
Sheehan presents more risk for Los Angeles Dodgers bettors. The right-hander has recorded 36 strikeouts through 31 innings, though his ERA sits above 5.00 after allowing six home runs already this season. Atlanta ranks near the top of baseball in slugging percentage and home runs, which creates a difficult matchup against a pitcher who has struggled with elevated fastballs.
This matchup features two clubs capable of reaching the World Series, which makes every inning important in this series opener. The Dodgers have enough star power to erase deficits quickly, but Atlanta enters the game with stronger current form on the mound. Sale has consistently delivered quality outings, and the Braves lineup matches up well against Sheehan. I'll take the Braves to win this contest, with the Dodgers likely to get even as they send better starting pitching to the mound later in the weekend.
