The Athletics head into Arlington for a Friday night clash with the Texas Rangers in a game where both clubs sit near the top of the AL West with identical records. With Luis Severino set to face Nathan Eovaldi, bettors are looking at two starters who have not fully settled into form this season, which means we could see a higher-scoring contest. Before this contest begins, you can find my Athletics vs Rangers prediction right here.

Key Storylines
- Both teams enter with 13-12 records and the winner of this game will go into Saturday in sole possession of first place in the AL West.
- Texas owns a stronger team ERA at 3.50 compared to Oakland at 4.69, and the Rangers have a slight advantage in the starting pitching department with Nathan Eovaldi on the bump.
- Both teams won two of the three games in their most recent series and they will try to win a third game out of four in this contest.
Pitching Matchup
- Luis Severino has struggled with control, issuing 20 walks and posting an ERA above 6.00.
- Nathan Eovaldi has been inconsistent, but limits walks better and has a slight advantage in the strikeout department.
- Severino’s WHIP of 1.70 suggests frequent traffic on the bases, with the walks playing a huge role in that.
- Eovaldi has allowed more hits but keeps free passes low, which can limit big innings.
Key Players
- Shea Langeliers leads the Athletics with a .306 average and 8 home runs so far this year.
- Tyler Soderstrom leads the A's with 17 RBI despite having a low batting average early on.
- Corey Seager provides power for Texas with 6 early home runs to lead the Rangers.
- Brandon Nimmo has been one of the most consistent hitters in the Rangers' lineup with a .304 average.
- Jake Burger continues to drive in runs at a high rate for Texas, leading them with 19 RBI.
Betting Trends & H2H
- These teams are 2-2 against each other so far this season.

- The under is 12-11-2 in Rangers games this year.
Athletics vs Texas Rangers Model Projection
- Score Projection: Athletics 4 - Rangers 6
- Win Probability: Athletics 44%, Rangers 56%
Offensively, both clubs are capable of putting runs on the board, and neither starter has been reliable enough to expect a shutdown outing. That supports a game script where both teams score early, but Texas gradually separates as the game moves into the middle innings. My best bet for this contest is for the game to go over 8 runs, as I expect the Rangers to win, but for both teams to do some damage offensively in this important AL West matchup.
