Key Storylines
- LSU's Rebound Effort: After a loss to Ole Miss, LSU aims to regain momentum and stay in the College Football Playoff hunt by avoiding a second loss in a row.
- South Carolina's Road Challenge: The Gamecocks seek their first signature road win of the season against a ranked SEC opponent. South Carolina has lost its only road game of the season earlier this season against Missouri. They kept that game within single-digits and will aim to stay competitive with LSU as well.
- Big SEC Implications: Both teams have already taken a loss in SEC play this year, with South Carolina entering at 1-2 in the SEC and LSU at 1-1. A loss here would be devastating for either of these teams and we should see that sense of urgency on the field.
Quarterback Play
- South Carolina: LaNorris Sellers has shown promise, with 886 passing yards, four touchdowns, and one interception this season. He has dealt with some injury issues early in the year but appears ready to go in this matchup after the Gamecocks' idle week last week.
- LSU: Garrett Nussmeier leads the Tigers' offense with 1,159 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions. He will try to bounce back from a disappointing showing against Ole Miss.
Betting Trends & H2H
- LSU: LSU is 2-3 against the spread this season. They have a 1-4 over/under record.
- South Carolina: The Gamecocks are 3-2 against the spread and a 2-3 over/under record.
- Head-to-Head: LSU leads the all-time series 18-2-1 over South Carolina. Their most recent meeting was a 36-33 victory for LSU over South Carolina in 2024.
South Carolina vs LSU Model Projection

- Win Probability: LSU 77%, South Carolina 23%
Final Thoughts
LSU enters this game as a strong favorite, with a potent offense led by Garrett Nussmeier and a defense that has been effective against the run. South Carolina faces a challenging road test but has the potential to cover the spread if they can establish a balanced attack and capitalize on LSU's defensive lapses. But I'll be betting LSU in this game as they should continue to lock down their competition at Death Valley.
