Key Storylines
Ole Miss looked great in their first-round game in the College Football Playoff. The Rebels annihilated the Tulane Green Wave at home in round one and they now have a chance to avenge their only loss of the season in this contest against Georgia. Ole Miss’ offense put up 35 points in that matchup in Athens, but it was the defense that let Ole Miss down and that defense will be tested again here in the second game of the post-Lane Kiffin era for the Rebs.
Georgia received a first-round bye in the CFP by virtue of winning the SEC and finishing third in the tournament’s seeding. The Bulldogs have a history of success in this tournament as a program, something Ole Miss does not have to fall back on. Georgia could use their experience to their advantage in this game by maintaining their composure in key moments.
Quarterback Play
Trinidad Chambliss is the quarterback of Ole Miss and he looked very good in his first College Football Playoff start against Tulane. Chambliss accounted for over 300 total yards and three total touchdowns againsts the Green Wave. Now he will look to put together another strong performance against UGA to advantage to the CFP semifinals.
Gunner Stockton is the starter at quarterback for Georgia. Stockton threw for 2,691 yards, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions this year. He got his first taste of CFP action last season, when Georgia lost to Notre Dame and Stockton had to start in the place of the injured Carson Beck. Stockton will hope that defeat helps him avoid any pitfalls this time around.
