Iowa State’s steadiness vs Kansas’ urgency. The Cyclones enter this game after an important win over the TCU Horned Frogs that got them to six wins on the year. Kansas sits one win away from bowl eligibility. But the Jayhawks have dropped three of their last four games and will try to get things back on track to punch their ticket to bowl season.
Home-field advantage. Iowa State typically performs at a higher level at Jack Trice Stadium. Their run game and defensive discipline tend to be more reliable at home, giving them an edge here. Kansas' struggles on the road should also give the Cyclones the upper hand. Kansas is just 1-3 on the road for the season and the Jayhawks will have to find a way to win on the road to get to bowl eligibility.
Iowa State: Rocco Becht leads the Cyclones with 2,230 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. He has shown the ability to deliver in key moments while avoiding unnecessary risks. His command of the offense helps Iowa State stay efficient and patient while keeping drives alive.
Kansas: Jalon Daniels remains the heartbeat of the Jayhawks’ offense. He has thrown for 2,190 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions going into this matchup in Ames. Daniels’ history of explosive plays and off-script production keeps Kansas dangerous even when their pass protection breaks down.
Iowa State is the more stable team entering this contest, with steadier quarterback play, a reliable defense, and home-field advantage. Kansas has the talent to make this competitive, but the road setting combined with inconsistent defensive performances creates a difficult situation for them here. Backing the Cyclones –4.5 is the more dependable option in this game.
