The Xavier Musketeers and Creighton Bluejays will renew their Big East rivalry on Wednesday night, which could have meaningful implications for conference positioning as the league season moves deeper into January. Creighton enters this game with an 11‑8 overall record and a 5‑3 mark in conference play, while Xavier sits at 11‑7 overall and 3‑4 in Big East action. Creighton hosts this affair at the CHI Health Center Omaha, where the Bluejays have been strong all season long. Before this game begins in Nebraska, keep reading to get my Xavier vs Creighton prediction on the court.
Pick: | Xavier +7.5 ATS PRO |
Confidence: | 3/5 |
Creighton has been an inconsistent but dangerous squad in conference play, owning an 11‑8 record and 5‑3 mark in the Big East. They’re coming off a competitive loss to Providence in a game where they scored in bunches, but struggled defensively late. Jasen Green and Josh Dix have provided offensive sparks when Creighton has needed production, but nobody is averaging over 12.5 points per game for the Bluejays this year. Creighton’s home-court advantage has been a strength, as they have been tough to beat at CHI Health Center Omaha with an 8-2 home record.
Xavier has found some rhythm recently, riding a two‑game winning streak into this matchup. Tre Carroll has paced the Musketeers with a team‑leading 16.7 points per game, while Malik Messina‑Moore’s facilitation has helped them share the ball effectively. Xavier’s recent surge has come against Butler and Providence, but consistency remains a question, especially on the defensive end at times. They’ll need to maintain their recent offensive efficiency and limit turnovers to stay within striking distance on the road.
Score Projection: Creighton 82 – Xavier 78 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Creighton 72%, Xavier 28% ATS PRO
Creighton should be able to win at home, where they have had success for most of this season. But I'm expecting for this to be a very close game and for the Xavier Musketeers to cover the spread as an underdog on the road. Xavier is playing some better basketball lately. And while I don't think that leads to a win, Xavier should hang around until the late stages of this one in the Big East.
