Two surging Big 12 programs collide as UCF visits No. 10 Houston at the Fertitta Center on Wednesday night. Houston’s defense has been the separator all season, but UCF arrives confident after a statement win over a ranked Texas Tech squad, and the Knights’ guards have been pushing tempo and scoring efficiently. Here, I break down this contest in college basketball and give you my UCF vs Houston prediction.

Key Storylines
- Defense travels, but Houston’s defense is already home. The Cougars are allowing roughly 62 points per game and thrive by limiting second-chance looks while forcing tough twos. Their ability to guard without fouling has been a steady theme.
- UCF’s offense has jumped a level, averaging about 84 points with improved shooting metrics and decision-making. Riley Kugel headlines the scoring, while Themus Fulks pushes pace and sets up teammates. Jamichael Stillwell gives them activity on the glass.
- Recent form: UCF is fresh off an 88-80 win over a top-15 Texas Tech side, powered by Fulks and rugged interior work from Stillwell and company. Houston handled Cincinnati 76-54 with freshmen Kingston Flemings and Isiah Harwell doing plenty of scoring, and Chris Cenac Jr. crashing the boards.
- Personnel notes: Houston wing Chase McCarty missed the Cincinnati game with a wrist issue. Keep an eye on his pregame availability. For UCF, the core backcourt of Kugel and Fulks is trending up after a productive week.

Final Thoughts
UCF’s improvement is real, and the Knights can hang for long stretches with their pace and shot-making. But Houston’s mix of on-ball pressure, rebounding, and late-clock poise should wear on the visitors. The Cougars’ ability to string together should prevent points and lead us to a total that finishes in the 130s. I'll take the under in this big game in the Big 12.
