Texas Tech hits Orlando on Saturday with a top-15 ranking, a high-octane offense, and a frontcourt that has been one of the best in the sport. UCF counters with a balanced group that has protected its home floor and will try to pull off an upset over a ranked opponent in this game. Key Storylines
- Form guide: Texas Tech enters at 16-4 overall and 6-1 in Big 12 play after knocking off then No. 6 Houston 90-86. That was a game defined by 22 second-chance points and a 44-28 rebounding advantage for the Red Raiders. UCF sits at 16-4 and 5-3 in the Big 12. UCF has stacked back-to-back wins, including a 95-86 win over Colorado and a 79-76 comeback against Arizona State.
- Star power: TTU’s JT Toppin is averaging 22.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. UCF’s Riley Kugel leads the Knights at 15.1 points per game, while Jamichael Stillwell gives them an interior presence that they will need if they want any shot at slowing down Toppin.
- Injuries/availability: Texas Tech forward Luke Bamgboye recently missed time with a knee issue. UCF has been without big Jermey Foumena, but Stillwell logged productive minutes last time out. Bettors should double-check their statuses before tip-off to make the most informed decision possible in the betting markets.
- Tempo and shot profile: Both offenses hover around 84 points per game with similar assist rates, but Texas Tech has allowed 73.8 points versus UCF’s 77.0 points allowed per game. There is a modest defensive edge for the visitors going into this game that could make all the difference.

Final Thoughts
My numbers lean Texas Tech by roughly a bucket with a modest advantage on the glass and in half-court shot creation. With UCF strong at home, I’m keeping it conservative and taking the points with the Knights, who could certainly win this game outright at home. The Knights enter this game at 12-2 at home so far this year and they should make life difficult on the Red Raiders, no matter which team wins this matchup.
