Key Storylines
- Purdue (20‑4, 10‑3 Big Ten) is riding a multi‑game winning streak and concludes a difficult stretch with this road test. Their offense is elite, and they rank highly in efficiency metrics nationally and within the conference. Braden Smith leads the team with over 15 points and nearly 9 assists per outing, while Fletcher Loyer and Trey Kaufman‑Renn provide scoring and rebounding balance. Iowa has a win‑loss record of 18‑6 and 8‑5 in conference, but its recent defeat at Maryland snapped a six‑game roll and highlighted some defensive inconsistencies. Bennett Stirtz has been a standout scorer, but secondary scoring depth remains an issue.
- Iowa has historically been strong at Carver‑Hawkeye, posting a 12‑1 home record this season, with advantages in tempo control and first‑half success in day games. However, it has struggled against ranked teams, especially when listed as underdogs, and it seeks its first top‑25 win of the campaign. Purdue’s road experience and Big Ten title hopes fuel its motivation to stay ahead in a tight league race.
- In their earlier January meeting, Purdue earned a 79‑72 triumph, overcoming a second‑half deficit behind Smith’s leadership and balanced scoring. That familiarity may give Purdue an edge in adjustments and game management this time around.
Head‑to‑Head & Betting Trends
- Purdue has won the last five encounters with Iowa, including the January 14 meeting, where they prevailed by a moderate margin.
- Iowa is strong at home overall, but has not beaten Purdue on its court in several seasons.
- Against the spread, Iowa is a respectable 15‑9 on the season and has been competitive in home underdog roles, while Purdue is 11-13 against the spread going into this matchup.

Final Thoughts
I am going to lay the points with Purdue in this matchup in the Big Ten. While Iowa has been very dangerous at home this season, they have struggled against ranked teams throughout the year. I think that trend will continue here, as Purdue will get an important win for their hopes of keeping up with Michigan in the Big Ten regular-season title race.
