Friday night brings a huge potential NCAA Tournament mismatch, as Prairie View A&M, fresh off a historic First Four victory, steps into the spotlight against top-seeded Florida. The Panthers arrive with confidence after extending their winning streak and showing grit against Lehigh, while the Gators enter as one of the nation’s elite programs with championship expectations. Here, I break down this Prairie View A&M vs Florida contest and make my prediction for it in the betting markets.

Prairie View A&M enters this game after earning its first NCAA Tournament win, defeating Lehigh 67-55 in the First Four. Dontae Horne led the way with over 25 points in that game, while Cory Wells added a double-double. The Panthers have now won eight straight games, showing strong late-season form.
Florida, the No. 1 seed in the South Region, has been one of the most complete teams in the country. The Gators combine elite rebounding with efficient scoring and have consistently handled lower-tier opponents throughout the season. Their ability to dominate the glass and control tempo will be central in this contest as they look to defend their tournament title from a season ago.

Prairie View A&M Key Players
Stat | Prairie View A&M | Florida |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 78.6 | 86.8 |
Points allowed per game | 75.5 | 72.0 |

Rebounds per game | 34.0 | 45.4 |
Assists per game | 11.8 | 16.6 |
Prairie View A&M deserves credit for its First Four win and late-season surge, but this is a major step up in competition. The Panthers rely heavily on a few key scorers, and that approach becomes difficult against a team like Florida that defends efficiently and controls the boards. The Gators’ size advantage and depth should lead to consistent second-chance points and limit Prairie View’s offensive opportunities.
Unless Prairie View A&M shoots well above its season averages or forces an unusually high number of turnovers, it is difficult to see a path to keeping this within striking distance. Florida has shown it can handle business against weaker opponents, and this sets up as a game where the favorite builds a steady lead and pulls away in the second half. Laying the points with Florida is the most logical angle, with the projection supporting a comfortable margin.
