Conference tournament basketball often produces fast turnarounds and unpredictable outcomes, and that dynamic is firmly in play as Oklahoma faces Arkansas on Friday in Nashville. Oklahoma arrives with renewed confidence after a dominant victory in the previous round, extending a late-season surge that has suddenly pushed the Sooners back into the postseason conversation. Arkansas brings a deeper resume and a higher seed into this contest, built around efficient offense and playmaking in the backcourt. The Razorbacks already proved they can defeat Oklahoma earlier this season, but the Sooners’ recent run suggests this Oklahoma vs Arkansas game could be a tight one.
Oklahoma enters this game playing its best basketball of the season. The Sooners defeated Texas A&M 83-63 in the previous round, marking their sixth straight victory and their eighth win in the last 10 games. That surge has flipped the narrative around a team that struggled earlier in conference play but now appears confident and connected on both ends of the floor.
The biggest storyline surrounding Oklahoma involves the health of guard Nijel Pack. Pack scored 20 points before leaving the Texas A&M game after a collision, and his status could affect how aggressively the Sooners attack offensively. If he is available and close to full strength, Oklahoma maintains one of the more dangerous perimeter shooting threats in the tournament.
Arkansas comes in as the higher seed with a stronger season resume. The Razorbacks have shown the ability to generate offense quickly, particularly through transition play and inside scoring. Their earlier meeting with Oklahoma produced an 83-79 Arkansas victory in Norman, a game that showcased Arkansas’ ability to finish late despite Oklahoma leading for much of the night.
The pace of this contest could determine the outcome. Arkansas thrives in an up-tempo setting, while Oklahoma has recently won games by controlling rebounds and limiting second chances. Whichever side dictates tempo likely gains the edge.

Oklahoma Sooners
Stat | Oklahoma | Arkansas |

Points allowed per game | 76.9 | 80.0 |
Team Field Goal % | 47% | 50% |
Rebounds Per Game | 35.8 | 35.8 |
Assists Per Game | 14.2 | 17.1 |
This contest shapes up as one of the more competitive games of the SEC tournament round. Oklahoma is clearly trending upward after several strong performances and has found balance with multiple scoring options stepping up around Nijel Pack. The Sooners also showed in their earlier meeting that they can challenge Arkansas by spacing the floor and hitting outside shots.
Even with Oklahoma’s improvement, Arkansas holds the edge in overall efficiency and backcourt creation. Darius Acuff Jr. consistently drives the Razorbacks’ offense and has already proven he can produce against this defense. If Arkansas controls the tempo and continues to score efficiently inside the arc, the Razorbacks should generate enough offense to pull away late. I recommend laying the points with the Razorbacks here.
