Fordham enters with an 8-4 record and has been strong at home this season, sporting a 6-2 mark in games from the Bronx. The Rams are averaging 76.3 points per game while holding opponents to 62.5, a margin that speaks to how good they have been on both ends. The Rams have won two straight games at home over Fairleigh Dickinson and Manhattan, winning both games by over 20 points apiece.
New Haven comes in at 5-6 overall and has struggled away from home with only one road victory on its ledger. The Chargers were most recently defeated 70-64 at NJIT, with Jabri Fitzpatrick leading their offense with a 20-point night. The Chargers will need similar production from him if they hope to keep within striking distance in this game.
Rebounding should be a significant advantage for Fordham, as they grab nearly seven more rebounds per contest than the Chargers. With this being the first-ever meeting between these two programs, there’s no direct head-to-head history to lean on, but the numbers suggest Fordham should assert itself in this matchup at home.
Score Projection: New Haven 62 – Fordham 71
Win Probability: New Haven 22%, Fordham 78%
Fordham should be able to win at home to start the day in college basketball on Monday. But I'm going to take the points with the New Haven Chargers on the road. Fordham has played the weakest non-conference schedule in Division I men's basketball, per KenPom's strength of schedule ratings. We should see this game land slightly closer than the point spread value when all is said and done.
