Saturday’s Big 12 showdown pits the Kansas Jayhawks against the Iowa State Cyclones in Ames. Both teams have strong résumés and arrive with momentum for different reasons. Iowa State’s 21‑3 overall record and unblemished home mark give the Cyclones a chance to assert further control in the conference standings. Kansas enters on a multi‑game winning streak that includes a recent marquee victory over the top‑ranked Arizona Wildcats. Who will win this top-10 showdown in the Big 12? Continue reading to get my Kansas vs Iowa State prediction in college hoops.
Pick: Iowa State -6.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: ★★★☆☆
Kansas defeated Iowa State 84-63 earlier this season, snapping the Cyclones’ win streak and proving that Kansas can win decisively when it has balance on both sides of the floor. Historically, Kansas holds a favorable record in this series, including recent covers as an underdog. Trends show Kansas has covered seven of its last eight games against the spread and has been effective straight up in February play.
Score Projection: Kansas 74 – Iowa State 83 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Kansas 38%, Iowa State 62% ATS PRO
Iowa State enters this rivalry contest as a home favorite and I think they will cover the spread at home against Kansas here. The Jayhawks are coming off an impressive win over Arizona. But that game was at Allen Fieldhouse, and required a late meltdown from Arizona. I don't think we'll see the Cyclones collapse in a signature fashion, especially at Hilton Coliseum.
