The Georgia Bulldogs travel to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats in Southeastern Conference basketball action on Tuesday night. Both teams enter with identical 17-8 records and took losses in their most recent outings. Kentucky lost at Florida 92-83 and needs a rebound at home, while Georgia has struggled in league play and dropped its latest game to Oklahoma despite a 20-point night from Blue Cain. Before tip-off from the iconic Rupp Arena, you can find my Georgia vs Kentucky prediction on Tuesday night.
Pick: Kentucky -7.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: 4/5
Kentucky enters this matchup reeling slightly after a road defeat to Florida, where the Wildcats could not contain the opponent’s offense despite solid individual efforts from Denzel Aberdeen and Collin Chandler. Urban Klavzar’s big night off the bench for Florida exposed Kentucky’s perimeter defense and highlighted small defensive breakdowns that could be problematic here. The Wildcats have lost three players to injury, including Jayden Quaintance and Kam Williams, which has limited rotational depth though freshmen such as Malachi Moreno and Brandon Garrison have logged extended minutes in their place.
For Georgia, a big boost comes in the form of Jeremiah Wilkinson returning from injury. Wilkinson averages around 17.1 points per outing and provides a legitimate scoring threat for a Bulldogs offense that averages over 90 points per game. The Bulldogs have been inconsistent recently and are just 5-7 in SEC play, but Wilkinson’s presence could flip their offensive efficiency numbers and give Georgia a chance to keep this within striking distance. Blue Cain’s recent 20-point performance shows Georgia has scoring punch when its shots fall. This game is a mix of offensive talent and defensive concerns for both teams.
Score Projection: Georgia 75 – Kentucky 84 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Georgia 20% Kentucky 80% ATS PRO
This SEC showdown should go the way of the Kentucky Wildcats at home. Georgia's offense is dangerous and they can score with anyone in college basketball. But the Wildcats have the edge on defense here and that should help them to get the win in this contest from Rupp Arena. I'll lay the points with Kentucky, as they should get a much-needed SEC win on Tuesday night.
