The Brown Bears (7-13, 1-6 Ivy League) make the trip to face the Yale Bulldogs (16-4, 5-2 Ivy League) on Friday in what is expected to be a one-sided Ivy League contest. Brown enters this game reeling after a 77-70 loss to Dartmouth, while Yale is coming off a 67-65 setback to Harvard and looks to reassert itself atop the conference. Here, I break down this matchup in the Ivy League and you will find my Brown vs Yale prediction below.
Pick: Yale -15.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: ★★★☆☆
The Bulldogs come into this game as a heavy favorite after building a 16-4 overall record and 5-2 mark in Ivy League play. Yale’s offense has been efficient, shooting over 50% from the field this season, and senior guard Nick Townsend has been a steady contributor with strong scoring, rebounding, and playmaking numbers. Townsend leads the Bulldogs in points, rebounds, and assists per game going into this matchup. Recent performances show Trevor Mullin can also carry the scoring load, posting 21 points in a tight loss to Harvard in Yale's last outing.
Meanwhile, Brown’s offense has been inconsistent, ranking near the bottom of Division I in scoring and field goal percentage. Their road victories are scarce this season, and they’ve gone a league-worst 1-6 in Ivy League play, including a home loss to Dartmouth. With Brown 1-6 straight up in its last seven games, offensive struggles and defensive lapses have been recurring themes entering this matchup.
A huge problem for Brown is the lack of an explosive scorer to lead them. Nobody on the Bears is averaging more than 10.0 points per game so far this season. Someone will need to step up if Brown is going to put Yale on upset alert.
Score Projection: Brown 61 – Yale 83
Win Probability: Brown 12% / Yale 88%
Given the Bulldogs’ smooth offensive execution at home, superior overall record, and the lopsided historical trends against Brown, Yale is strongly positioned to cover the 15.5-point spread and secure a comfortable victory. I am going to lay the points with the Bulldogs, who should stay at the top of the Ivy League standings by earning a convincing victory to kick off their weekend.
