Monday’s Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup between the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats and the Jackson State Tigers carries meaning for both teams as conference play heads toward the postseason. Bethune-Cookman enters this showdown with a strong SWAC record and control of its own destiny in the league standings, while Jackson State looks to build consistency to stay in the top five in the SWAC standings. Here, I break down this contest and make my Bethune-Cookman vs Jackson State prediction.
Pick: Jackson State +4.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: 3/5
Jackson State Key Players
Bethune-Cookman Key Players
Bethune-Cookman | Jackson State | |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 74.3 | 69.4 |
Points allowed per game | 76.9 | 85.5 |
Team Field Goal % | 45.7% | 39.3% |
Team Free Throw % | 68.2% | 76.8% |
Rebounds Per Game | 36.0 | 33.5 |
Assists Per Game | 13.6 | 11.0 |
Both teams tell a clear story in the numbers. Bethune-Cookman’s offense has been more productive on a per-game basis, and its field goal percentage is significantly higher than that of Jackson State, which has struggled to score efficiently. Defensively, the Wildcats give up fewer points than the Tigers, suggesting Bethune-Cookman has an edge in overall execution on that end. However, Jackson State’s strong free-throw shooting could keep them in close games late, especially in tight SWAC play.
Recent meetings have leaned in favor of Jackson State the past couple of seasons, with wins by JSU in three matchups during the 2024-25 campaign. But in the 2025-26 campaign, Bethune-Cookman demonstrated clear superiority with an 85-48 win on January 24, 2026. Bethune-Cookman has an 11-13 record against the spread this season. Jackson State enters this game with an 11-14 record against the spread.
Score Projection: Bethune-Cookman 77 – Jackson State 75 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Bethune-Cookman 70%, Jackson State 30% ATS PRO
I'm going to take the points with Jackson State in this important matchup in the SWAC. We aren't likely to see as lopsided a game between these teams as we did earlier in the season. While I'm not sure Jackson State can win outright at home here, I will take the points with the Tigers on Monday night.
