Alabama travels to face Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon in a Southeastern Conference showdown between two squads looking to build momentum after disappointing starts in league play. The Crimson Tide enters this game ranked and looking for a second win in a row, while the Sooners aim to get back on track after three straight defeats. Before this game begins in the SEC, keep reading to get my thoughts, including my Alabama vs Oklahoma prediction.
Pick: | Alabama -5.5 ATS PRO |
Confidence: | 3/5 |
The Crimson Tide have shown they can put up points in bunches this season, ranked among the national leaders in scoring with 93.7 points per game. Labaron Philon has been a key contributor, including a 32-point performance in his team’s most recent victory. Alabama’s offensive output has been impressive, but defensive inconsistencies have led to back-and-forth results in SEC play. The Crimson Tide is 2-2 in the SEC and will try to get back above the .500 mark in conference play with a win here.
Oklahoma has struggled to find consistency, with a three-game losing streak in conference play entering this game. The Sooners boast a sturdy home record, and their ability to find perimeter scoring can keep them competitive through stretches. But Oklahoma gave up 96 points to Florrida in their last outing and the Sooners have to be better on defense to win this game.
Injuries and rotation questions have impacted both teams at various points but Alabama has managed to overcome those challenges and get healthier during conference competition. This game could hinge on how well Oklahoma defends the three and whether Alabama can protect the ball in transition.
Score Projection: Alabama 86 – Oklahoma 78 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Alabama 64%, Oklahoma 36% ATS PRO
Neither of these teams has been all that good in SEC play yet this season. But I think that Alabama has a higher upside in this game against an Oklahoma team that was torched by the Florida Gators in Norman their last time out. I'll lay the points with the Crimson Tide here, as they should get back above .500 in conference play with a win.
