Best Rhode Island Online Casinos – Where to Play Legally in 2026
Updated August 24, 2026
Updated August 24, 2026
Rhode Island joined the online casino club in 2023, becoming the seventh state in the country to make real-money iGaming legal.
The catch? Players only have one choice right now: Bally Bet. The company struck an exclusive deal with the state lottery, so for the time being, they’re running the entire show.
Sweepstakes casinos are also accessible to Rhode Island residents, but they operate under a different legal framework than state-licensed iGaming platforms. While they often feature similar game formats (slots-style games, blackjack-style games, roulette-style games, etc.), they use a promotional sweepstakes model rather than real-money wagering under Rhode Island Lottery oversight. Players can redeem eligible promotional currency for prizes, subject to each site’s terms.
In the sections ahead, I’ll break down Rhode Island’s online gambling laws, highlight the top casino apps you can actually use here, and answer any questions you have along the way. Let's get right into it.

So, are online casinos legal in Rhode Island? If you caught the intro, you probably know the answer already... it’s yes. The Ocean State made it official on June 22, 2023, when Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee signed Senate Bill 948 into law. Here’s what that law lays out:
Important distinction: Sweepstakes casinos are not licensed gambling operators in Rhode Island. They use a promotional model involving virtual currencies and prize redemptions. Availability and legal treatment can vary by state and may change over time.
Bally Bet may be the only real-money online casino licensed in Rhode Island, but it’s far from the only option for players.
Rhode Island residents can currently access a number of sweepstakes-style casino platforms. These sites operate under promotional sweepstakes laws and are not licensed by the Rhode Island Lottery. You’ll also hear them called "social casinos" by the way; the two terms are used interchangeably, so don’t let that trip you up.
These sites don’t take real-money bets the way Bally’s does. Instead, they use a two-coin, virtual currency system:
Another key difference is accessibility. Social casinos are always free to join, and you never have to make a deposit to play casino games or win real money.
That setup is what keeps them legal (not just in Rhode Island but in most U.S. states). It’s also why pretty much all of the top sweepstakes casino sites currently accept Rhode Island players.
So, how do you actually pick an online casino here in Rhode Island? Honestly, it comes down to what matters most to you.
Some people chase the biggest bonuses. Others just want a smooth app or a good variety of online slots. Things like payment methods, withdrawal times, customer support, and reputation all play into it too.
With that in mind, let’s start with the only real-money option that’s currently on the table:
Right now, Bally Bet has the entire online casino market to itself. Thanks to its exclusive deal with the Rhode Island Lottery, it’s the only site (or app) where locals can legally play for real money. Big names like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and Caesars aren’t allowed in the state.
But Bally Bet Casino brings plenty to the table on its own:
You can check out our full Bally Bet Casino review for more information on what Rhode Island residents can expect.
As we explained in the last section, Bally Bet may be the only real-money casino site in Rhode Island, but it isn’t the only way to play online.
Residents still have access to more than 100 different sweeps casinos, giving players plenty of alternatives to try. It's worth noting that some operators (Stake.us and High 5, for example) have already pulled out of the Rhode Island market.
They’ve done so mostly as a precaution after watching other states with legal iGaming place restrictions on sweepstakes sites. Even so, most social and sweepstakes casinos remain available to Rhode Island players.
Here are five of the strongest options right now (in my opinion, at least). Each one follows the sweepstakes model, so you can play for free and potentially win real money prizes.
🎰 Best RI Sweeps Casinos | 🎉 No Deposit Bonus | 🏦 First Purchase Bonus | 🎮 Number of Casino Games | 💸 Min. Redemption |
|---|---|---|---|---|
1. WOW Vegas | 250,000 WC + 5.00 SC | 1.5 Million WC for $9.99 + 30 FREE SC | 1,500+ | 25 SC |
2. McLuck | 7,500 GC + 2.50 SC | 100K GC for $9.99 + 30 FREE SC | 1,500+ | 10 SC |
3. Pulsz | 5,000 GC + 2 SC | 400K GC for $19.99 + 40 FREE SC | 1,000+ | 25 SC |
4. LoneStar | 100,000 GC + 2.50 SC | 125K GC for $24.99 + 50 FREE SC | 500+ | 45 SC |
5. PlayFame | 7,500 GC + 2.50 SC | 80K GC for $9.99 + 30 FREE SC | 1,300+ | 10 SC |
As you can see, each of these sites offers something a little different. Some have more casino games. Some have bigger sign-up bonuses. And others have lower prize redemption thresholds (which makes it easier to cash out winnings).

Evolution teams up with Bally’s to bring its slot games to Rhode Island players for the first time. With this launch, Rhode Island becomes the seventh U.S. state where Evolution is live, and Bally Casino users can now play well-known titles from NetEnt, Red Tiger, and Big Time Gaming.
Rhode Island’s Senate votes 30–2 to break up the state’s one-operator setup and bring in more sportsbooks. The bill now heads to the House, with talk of adding big names like DraftKings and FanDuel before the session wraps on June 30.
Rhode Island becomes the seventh state to launch online casino gaming (joining Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia). Bally’s app starts with 170 slots. Players also get live blackjack and roulette, streamed out of a new studio in Lincoln.
Governor Dan McKee signs Senate Bill 948 into law, legalizing online casino gaming across all of Rhode Island. The law extends Bally’s monopoly from brick-and-mortar into iGaming, with Bally’s and IGT set to run the market under a long-term contract.
Rhode Island introduces statewide mobile wagering through Sportsbook Rhode Island. The platform, managed by IGT and William Hill under lottery oversight, allows residents to place bets online for the first time.
Following the Supreme Court’s repeal of PASPA, Rhode Island becomes the first state in New England to authorize sports betting. The lottery is designated as regulator, with IGT and William Hill contracted to operate retail sportsbooks.
Did you know online social casinos and sweepstakes casinos offer the same types of games you’ll find at real-money, online gambling sites? It’s true.
In fact, when you compare Rhode Island’s only legal online casino (Bally Bet) with the sweepstakes casinos available in the state, the sweeps sites usually have more variety.
Here’s a quick look at the game types you can expect:
This is where you’ll find the biggest selection by far. Classic three-reel games sit right next to flashy video slots with bonus rounds, jackpots, and all kinds of themes.
Think blackjack, roulette, baccarat, craps, and other online table games. Most Rhode Island casino sites also mix in a few different versions so you’re not stuck with just one style of play.
Rhode Islanders are dealt five cards, and they decide which ones to keep before drawing again. The goal is to land a strong poker hand, and versions like Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild are among the most common.
These are streamed in real time, with an actual dealer dealing the cards or spinning the wheel. It’s about as close as you’ll get to sitting at a casino table without leaving your house.
Everything else falls into this bucket: bingo, keno, Plinko, crash games, fish tables, you name it. They add some variety when you want a break from slots or cards while playing at Rhode Island online casinos.
Do you want to know the best part about Rhode Island’s sweepstakes casinos? They all give you a free no-deposit bonus as soon as you sign up. Every single one.
Now, don’t get me wrong... Bally Bet Casino’s welcome deal (the 100% reload bonus) is a solid offer that's definitely worth claiming. But it only kicks in if you’ve had a losing week, which isn’t exactly something to root for.
Social casinos are different. They hand you free play opportunities right out of the gate.
Why? The answer’s simple: they have to. To comply with sweepstakes laws, social casinos must provide a free way to play. Most do that by giving new players a 100% free no-deposit bonus when they join.
In the table below, you’ll find 10 of the best online casinos in Rhode Island offering this kind of bonus right now:
🎰 RI Online Casinos | 🎁 No Purchase Bonuses |
|---|---|
1. RealPrize | |
2. Mega Bonanza | |
3. Stake.us | |
4. High 5 Casino | |
5. McLuck | |
6. Spree Casino | |
7. Moonspin | |
8. PlayFame | |
9. WOW Vegas | |
10. The Money Factory |

One thing to clear up before we go any further: banking works differently at online gambling sites versus sweepstakes casinos. At Bally Bet, you’re depositing and withdrawing actual money.
But with sweepstakes gaming sites? You don’t deposit in the same way; you buy Gold Coin packages, and those come with "free" Sweeps Coins (1.00 SC for every $1 spent). Later, you can redeem Sweeps Coins for cash prizes or gift cards at the same 1:1 value.
The good news is the online casino payment methods are about the same across the board. Here’s what you’ll usually see:
Visa and Mastercard are the most common options. They work quickly for buying Gold Coins at RI sweeps casinos and for making deposits at Bally Bet.
You can link your bank account directly to move funds in or out. It’s a reliable option, though withdrawals often take a few business days to clear.
Services like PayPal, Skrill, or Venmo give you another fast, secure way to handle payments. They’re convenient for both deposits and cashing out.
Some sweepstakes online casino apps in Rhode Island accept Bitcoin and other coins for buying GC. Online gambling sites like Bally Bet, on the other hand, don’t currently support crypto. But that could potentially change in the future.
Signing up for an online casino usually involves following the same steps (no matter where you play). Rhode Island is no different. Here’s what you’ll normally need to do:
You can go with Bally Bet Casino RI, the state’s only real-money online casino. Or, if you’d rather try something else, social casinos and sweeps casinos are also available to Rhode Island players. Popular options include WOW Vegas, McLuck, and Pulsz.
Visit the casino’s website or download the app. Click Sign Up, and you’ll be taken to a registration form. Enter the requested details, and your account will be ready in just a few minutes.
RI online casinos almost always greet new players with a welcome bonus. At Bally Bet, it’s a loss-back promotion worth up to $100 during your first week of play. At sweepstakes casinos, expect a free no-deposit bonus plus a 100% (sometimes more) match on your first purchase.
Once your account is set up and your bonus is active, you can start playing games. Online slots, online blackjack, online roulette, online poker, live casino games, whatever you prefer.
When you’re ready, you can cash out winnings. At Bally Bet, that means real money withdrawals. At sweeps casinos, you’ll be redeeming Sweeps Coins for cash prizes.
Online casino laws don’t look the same everywhere. Seriously.
New Jersey and Pennsylvania each have big markets, with dozens of licensed gambling sites already up and running. In Connecticut and Delaware, you can play for real money too, but there aren’t nearly as many options.
And in states like Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire, it's just sweepstakes casinos for now. Check out the comprehensive guides below to find out what online casino gambling looks like in 12 of the states closest to Rhode Island:
Online casinos get most of the attention, but they’re not the only way to wager real money on your phone in Rhode Island. There are a few other options worth knowing about:
Rhode Island legalized online sports betting in March 2019, with the first wagers placed that September. All action runs through Sportsbook RI, the state lottery’s own site and app. Online sports betting in Rhode Island is available to players 18 and older, which differs from the 21+ requirement for online casino gaming.
DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, and other popular operators aren’t allowed here, though lawmakers have talked about expanding the Rhode Island sports betting market at some point in the future.
Horse race betting is legal too, but not through the state sportsbook. Instead, residents can use advance-deposit wagering (ADW) platforms such as FanDuel Racing or TwinSpires.
The age limit is 18, and right now, these ADW sites are the only legal way to bet on the ponies online in Rhode Island.
Daily fantasy contests have been allowed since 2016, when Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin said they count as "games of skill" (not chance) under state law. That decision meant DFS didn’t need any new laws or help from the Rhode Island legislature.
Rhode Island permits daily fantasy sports participation for players 18 and older, based on prior legal interpretation distinguishing DFS as a skill-based contest.
The Rhode Island Lottery also offers a handful of games online. Players can create a VIP Plus Club account and, as long as they’re 18 or older and inside state borders, they can buy into digital scratch-off games and online keno.
Traditional draw tickets (like Powerball or Mega Millions) are still sold in-person only.
When it comes to in-person casinos, Rhode Island keeps things pretty simple. There are only two, both owned by Bally’s Corporation and overseen by the state’s Department of Business Regulation, Division of Gaming and Athletics. The agency makes sure licensing, compliance, and fair play are all covered.
Lincoln is the state’s main casino and by far the largest. You’ll see close to 4,000 slot machines on the floor, along with more than a hundred table games and a poker room that runs over 30 tables.
Add a hotel with 136 rooms, multiple restaurants and bars, plus a Sportsbook Rhode Island for betting on pro and college games, and it feels more like a resort than just a casino.
Tiverton is smaller, more laid back, but still offers plenty to do. This land-based casino has about 1,000 slots and a solid selection of table games like blackjack, roulette, and Pai Gow.
There’s a hotel attached, and it also includes a Sportsbook Rhode Island, so players can bet on sports without heading up to Lincoln.
In Rhode Island, you’ve got a few ways to gamble: online with Bally Bet or in person at the two Bally’s casinos. However you play, it helps to keep yourself in check. Set a budget. Take breaks. And if you lose, let it go instead of trying to win it back.
The Rhode Island Lottery also has a Problem Gambling page with a lot of great info. It doesn’t just explain what a gambling problem looks like; it also points you toward real support if you or someone close to you needs it. Here are the main resources available right now in Rhode Island:
Is online gambling legal in Rhode Island?
Yup! Most forms of online gambling are legal here in Rhode Island. The state launched its first real-money casino app, Bally Bet, back in 2023. And players can also legally bet on sports, enter paid DFS contests, and play select lottery games online.
Can you play online poker for real money in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island technically legalized online poker in 2023, but no real-money poker sites have gone live yet. Bally’s holds the exclusive license for legal gambling here, and they don’t currently offer poker anywhere. For now, the only legal way to play online is through sweepstakes sites like Global Poker or Clubs Poker.
Does Rhode Island have any land-based casinos?
Yes. There are two Rhode Island casinos: Bally’s Twin River Lincoln in Lincoln and Bally’s Tiverton Casino & Hotel in Tiverton. Both are open to players 18 and older, and you can play casino games or place sports betting wagers at either location.
Who regulates Rhode Island online gaming?
The Rhode Island Lottery regulates all forms of legal online gambling in the state. That includes Bally Bet, Rhode Island’s only online casino, as well as the state’s sports betting platform (Sportsbook RI).
