The Las Vegas Aces head to San Francisco on Sunday looking to halt a two-game skid, while the Golden State Valkyries attempt to continue one of the strongest starts in the WNBA. Golden State enters the contest at 5-2 and sits near the top of the standings, while Las Vegas is 4-3 after consecutive losses. This Aces vs Valkyries matchup is close to a pick 'em game, and you will find my prediction for the lone game on the WNBA Sunday slate right here.

Key Storylines
- Las Vegas enters after back-to-back defeats and is looking to avoid a third consecutive loss.
- Golden State has opened the season 5-2 and has been one of the league's best defensive teams.
- The Valkyries have become one of the WNBA's most dangerous perimeter shooting teams, averaging nearly 11 made three-pointers per game.
- The Aces have dominated recent meetings, winning three of the last four contests between the teams.
- Las Vegas owns a strong 4-1 road record despite its uneven overall start. They have allowed 98 points per game over the last 2 games and will need to be better on defense to get back into the win column here.
Key Players
Golden State Valkyries
- Veronica Burton has emerged as a leader in the backcourt. Her playmaking and perimeter defense have been major reasons the Valkyries are off to a 5-2 start.
- Gabby Williams impacts every area of the game. She contributes as a scorer, rebounder, and defender while helping fuel Golden State's transition attack. Her versatility makes her one of the most important pieces in the rotation.
- Kayla Thornton provides toughness on the glass and valuable floor spacing. Her ability to defend multiple positions gives Golden State flexibility against the Aces' talented frontcourt.
Las Vegas Aces
- A'ja Wilson remains the centerpiece of the franchise. Wilson has averaged more than 23 points and nearly 11 rebounds in previous meetings with Golden State and remains the toughest matchup on the floor.
- Jackie Young gives the Aces another reliable scoring threat. Her ability to create offense off the dribble prevents defenses from focusing entirely on Wilson.
- Chelsea Gray remains one of the WNBA's elite floor generals. She is critical to Las Vegas' half-court execution.
- Chennedy Carter provides additional scoring and rim pressure. Her aggressiveness can help the Aces generate offense when perimeter shots are not falling.

Aces vs Valkyries Model Projection
- Score Projection: Las Vegas Aces 87 - Golden State Valkyries 84
- Win Probability: Las Vegas Aces 56%, Golden State Valkyries 44%
Golden State has been the more consistent club through seven games and owns a strong defensive track record. The Valkyries have also protected home court effectively while generating offense through ball movement and perimeter shooting. Even so, this spot sets up well for Las Vegas. The Aces are 4-1 away from home, have the best individual player on the floor in Wilson, and have generally performed well against Golden State in recent meetings. I like the Aces to pull this game out in Ballhalla on Sunday afternoon.
