The Indiana Fever head west on Thursday night for a tough road test against a Golden State Valkyries team that has turned heads early in the 2026 WNBA season. Indiana enters the game riding a three-game winning streak, while Golden State has built one of the league’s top defensive units and continues to prove it belongs near the top of the standings. This is already the second meeting between these teams in less than a week after the Fever earned a 90-82 victory at home behind another standout outing from Caitlin Clark. Before their rematch in Ballhalla, continue reading to get my Fever vs Valkyries prediction.
Indiana has looked sharp offensively during its current winning streak. Caitlin Clark has returned to form after briefly dealing with back soreness and remains one of the most productive guards in the league. The Fever are averaging nearly 94 points per game, the best mark in the WNBA entering Thursday’s action. However, this is just their second road game of the season, with 5 of their first 6 games coming at home.
A huge story going into this contest is the health status of Clark. She is questionable to take part in this game due to an illness. Whether she plays or not could have a huge impact on this game's outcome. Even if she is able to play and is compromised from a health standpoint, that would favor Golden State.
The Valkyries continue to surprise many with their defensive discipline and balanced scoring attack. Golden State does not rely heavily on one player offensively, which has made the club difficult to prepare for. The Valkyries already own a road win over New York this season and nearly defeated Indiana on the road last week despite playing on tired legs.
Another major factor is pace. Indiana prefers an up-tempo style built around transition scoring and perimeter shooting. Golden State prefers a more physical half-court game in which defensive pressure is the focus. Whichever team controls tempo could decide the outcome.
Indiana has the higher offensive ceiling, especially if Caitlin Clark gets hot early from deep range. Still, Golden State’s defensive consistency and home-court edge make the Valkyries appealing in a near pick’em spot.
The previous meeting showed that Golden State can compete with Indiana even when shots are not consistently falling. The Valkyries forced stretches of uncomfortable offense from the Fever and should feel confident entering the rematch at home. Indiana’s transition attack will still produce runs, but Golden State’s defensive pressure and balanced scoring give the home side a slight edge in this rematch.
