How To Sign Up for FanDuel Sportsbook

To sign up for an account on FanDuel Sportsbook and start placing bets on all your favorite players and teams, just follow the five simple steps listed below:

Step 1: Visit the FanDuel Website or Download the Mobile App

Click or tap here to visit the FanDuel Sportsbook website using the web browser on your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.

Or, if you'd prefer, you can head to the App Store on your iOS device or the Google Play Store on your Android device and download the FanDuel Sportsbook & Casino app for free.

Step 2: Create Your FanDuel Account

After you've reached the site or finished downloading the app, begin creating your FanDuel Sportsbook account.

To do this, you'll just need to enter your email address, choose a unique username and secure password, quickly read through FanDuel's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and click the "Create Account" button at the bottom of your screen.

However, if you have already signed up on the FanDuel Fantasy Sports app, you can skip this step and simply log into FanDuel Sportsbook using the email address and password associated with your DFS account.

Step 3: Verify Your Identity

Next, you'll need to complete the account verification process to confirm your age and identity. This process is divided into five separate steps:

First, you'll need to provide your full legal name (first and last). Avoid using any nicknames, and make sure that the name you enter matches what's on your driver's license or any other form of government-issued ID.

Second, you'll need to enter your date of birth and phone number. This is necessary in order for tax purposes and to help verify your identity; you will not be receiving any marketing texts or calls from FanDuel when you provide your phone number.

Third, you'll need to provide your home address. Again, make sure this information matches what's on your driver's license or any other form of government-issued ID.

Fourth, you'll need to enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number (SSN).

This piece of information is needed to comply with state and federal laws, but don't worry, your security is their top priority. FanDuel Sportsbook employs robust encryption and security measures to ensure the confidentiality of your sensitive data.

On this page, you'll also have the opportunity to enable two-factor authentication, which adds an extra layer of security using your mobile phone. However, this step is optional at this point, and you can skip over that part for now if you'd like.

Lastly, you'll need to agree to some terms and conditions to complete the account verification process. Once you've read through the information and checked all appropriate boxes, click "Verify Identity" to finish.

Step 4: Make Your First Deposit

Once you've successfully signed up and verified your account, you'll need to make your first deposit. To do this, go to your account settings and hit the green "Add Funds" button.

Then, choose your preferred payment method from the options provided (debit cards, online banking, Apple Pay, Venmo, etc.), enter the amount you'd like to deposit, and confirm the transaction.

FanDuel Account Verification Process Explained

For some new users of FanDuel Sportsbook, account verification is the most frustrating and time-consuming part of the entire sign-up process. However, we're here to make things easier and help you start placing your bets in no time!

How To Verify Your FanDuel Account

To verify your FanDuel Sportsbook account, you'll just need to provide the following information:

Full Legal Name (First and Last)
Date of Birth
Phone Number
Home Address
Social Security Number (Only the Last Four Digits)

FanDuel Sportsbook will then use a third-party verification agency to cross-reference the information you've provided with public records to confirm your identity.

If they are unable to verify your account using the information you've provided (which can happen for a number of reasons), then you'll need to upload a picture of your driver's license or another form of government-issued ID.

Why Do You Need To Verify Your Identity on FanDuel?

There are many reasons why FanDuel requires users to verify their identity. The primary motivations behind this essential step in the account setup process include:

Regulatory Compliance: FanDuel, like other reputable online betting platforms, operates within a regulatory framework. Verifying user identities is a mandated practice to ensure compliance with local and state gambling regulations. By confirming the identity of users, FanDuel demonstrates its commitment to operating within legal boundaries.
Preventing Fraud: Identity verification acts as a robust measure against fraudulent activities. It helps prevent unauthorized access to accounts, protects users from identity theft, and safeguards the platform from potential fraudulent transactions. This proactive approach contributes to maintaining a secure betting environment for all users.
Preventing Underage Gambling: Verifying the age of users, particularly their eligibility to gamble legally, is paramount. This process helps prevent underage individuals from accessing the platform and participating in gambling activities, aligning with the legal requirements surrounding online betting.
Security Measures: Identity verification adds an extra layer of security to user accounts. It minimizes the risk of account takeover and unauthorized usage, fostering a trustworthy and secure online gaming experience for all FanDuel users.
Maintaining Fairness & Integrity: A verified user base contributes to the overall fairness and integrity of the platform. It ensures that everyone participating in betting activities is doing so transparently and within the established guidelines, fostering a level playing field for all users.

How Long Does It Take FanDuel To Verify?

FanDuel is typically able to instantly verify the accounts of new users once they have provided all necessary personal information or uploaded a form of government-issued ID (driver's license, passport, etc.).

However, if for some reason FanDuel is unable to confirm your age and identity using these methods, the verification process may take longer. You will need to reach out to the FanDuel customer support team for assistance, and they will typically respond within 24-36 hours to help you find a solution.

Why Am I Having Trouble Verifying My Identity?

You may be having trouble verifying your identity on FanDuel Sportsbook for one of the following reasons:

Incorrect Information: Ensure that the information you provided during the verification process is accurate and matches the details on your official documents. Discrepancies, even minor ones, can lead to difficulties in verifying your identity.
Incomplete Documentation: Check if you have submitted all the required documents. Incomplete documentation can result in verification delays. Make sure that any uploaded images are clear and legible.
Technical Issues: Technical glitches, such as internet connectivity problems or issues with the uploading process, may hinder successful verification. Double-check your internet connection and try uploading documents again if needed.
Using A VPN: FanDuel's geolocation verification may be impacted if you are using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Disable any VPN during the verification process to ensure accurate location confirmation.
Multiple Verification Attempts: Repeatedly attempting verification without addressing the underlying issues can result in temporary suspension. If you encounter difficulties, reach out to FanDuel's customer support for guidance rather than making multiple unsuccessful attempts.

Is It Safe To Give FanDuel My SSN?

Yes! It is 100% safe to give FanDuel your Social Security Number (SSN). FanDuel takes the security and privacy of your personal information seriously and employs advanced encryption and security measures to safeguard it. Your SSN is a crucial component of the identity verification process, required by regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with legal and industry standards.

Common Problems When Signing Up on FanDuel

Location Verification & Geolocation Services

Geolocation errors may arise if the user's location cannot be accurately determined, leading to restrictions on signup.

To resolve this, you'll need to enable location services, ensure a stable internet connection, and disable any VPNs or location-masking tools that might interfere with the geolocation process.

Duplicate Account Creation

Duplicate account creation can also pose a common challenge during the signup process on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Users may inadvertently attempt to register multiple accounts, which goes against the platform's terms of service. To avoid this issue, individuals should ensure they are not already registered and only attempt to create one account per person.

Payment & Deposit Rejections

Payment method rejections during the initial deposit can be a frustrating problem for users. To address this, users should verify that their chosen payment method is accepted by FanDuel, check for sufficient funds, and consider trying an alternative payment option if issues persist.

Who Can Create an Account on FanDuel?

Age

To create an account on FanDuel Sportsbook, users must meet the legal age requirement for online gambling, typically set at 21 years old in most states and jurisdictions. Age verification is crucial to comply with gambling regulations and foster a responsible gaming environment, ensuring that individuals engaging in online betting are of legal age.

Location

Users must also be physically located in a state or region where FanDuel Sportsbook is legally operating. Geolocation technology is often employed to confirm the user’s location, preventing unauthorized access outside of permitted areas. This criterion is essential to adhere to regional gambling laws and maintain compliance with jurisdiction-specific regulations.

Exclusion Lists

Lastly, FanDuel may maintain exclusion lists to prevent individuals with certain affiliations, such as employees or those with a conflict of interest, from creating accounts. In addition, self-exclusion options are available and allow users to voluntarily restrict their access to the platform, promoting responsible gambling practices. If your name is found on any exclusion list or if you choose to self-exclude, you will not be able to place bets on the app.
