The women’s 4 x 7.5km relay at the 2026 Winter Olympics is set to unfold in the Italian Alps, and teams from Scandinavia, Central Europe, and North America will face off in a battle that combines endurance, speed, and tactical acumen. This relay, featuring four skiers each tackling a 7.5 km leg, blends classic and free technique legs and serves as a showcase for the depth of talent in women’s cross-country skiing. Before this Olympic event begins in Italy, you can find my prediction for the race below.
Below are the most up-to-date gold medal odds for the women’s 4 x 7.5km relay at the 2026 Winter Olympics:
One of the overarching stories this season has been the continued rivalry between Sweden and Norway in women’s cross-country skiing. Sweden enters the Games with strong recent form, having captured gold in the women’s 4 × 7.5 km relay at the 2025 FIS Nordic World Championships, edging out Norway by less than a second in a dramatic finish.
Sweden’s quartet of Emma Ribom, Frida Karlsson, Ebba Andersson, and Jonna Sundling delivered a powerful performance to secure victory, with Germany rounding out the podium behind them. That result showcased Sweden’s depth across both classic and free technique legs and positioned them as the team to beat in the Olympics, where Sweden has also dominated.
Norway remains a formidable adversary for the Swedes. The Norwegian women’s team, featuring names like Heidi Weng, Astrid Øyre Slind, Karoline Simpson-Larsen, and Kristin Austgulen Fosnæs, has consistently been in the mix at major events and will be eager to convert near-wins into Olympic gold. Norway’s strong history in cross-country skiing and a well-balanced squad make them an attractive second choice on the betting board.
Across the field, several nations harbor aspirations of cracking the podium. Finland, Germany, and Switzerland have shown flashes of strong relay form on the World Cup circuit, with podium-level capabilities when all four skiers bring their best performance. For the United States, which finished sixth at the recent world championships with a team led by Rosie Brennan, Julia Kern, Sophia Laukli, and Jessie Diggins, this relay presents a chance to solidify its presence among the top tier, though its medal odds are longer.
Pick: Sweden to win gold ATS PRO
Confidence: 4 out of 5
Based on recent results and current form, Sweden stands out as the most consistent and complete team in the women’s 4 x 7.5km relay landscape. Their victory at the 2025 World Championships, where they defeated Norway, illustrates the squad’s ability to perform under pressure and deliver results in high-stakes relay competition. The Swedish quartet brings a balance of strength in both classic and freestyle legs, with athletes accustomed to racing side-by-side with elite competition. And with how well Sweden has performed at this Olympics so far, I'll take them to get the job done for gold here.
