Fulham vs Burnley Prediction: Cottagers to Pile The Misery On Clarets

Fulham host Burnley at Craven Cottage on Saturday with the home side looking to steady their run-in and Burnley still fighting to stay alive near the bottom of the table. The Cottagers have turned in a mixed set of results of late, with wins over Sunderland and Tottenham balanced out by defeats to Manchester City and West Ham. The Clarets, meanwhile, look helpless in their bid to avoid relegation, despite commendable draw against Chelsea and Bournemouth in recent weeks. The gap in quality is clear, but the betting angle comes down to whether or not Fulham can turn control into goals against a Burnley side that has struggled away from home.
Fulham come into this match off a 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest last weekend. Before that, they beat Tottenham 2-1 and Sunderland 3-1, though those wins were followed by a 1-0 home loss to West Ham and a shock 1-0 FA Cup defeat against Southampton. That recent stretch highlights a team that is competitive and organized, even if they are not consistently dominant in attack.
The numbers reflect that balance. Fulham sit in 11th in the Premier League after a mixed campaign. They have kept things tight of late, conceding only 5 goals across their last 5 matches in all competitions from 5.7 xG. However, they have scored only 5 in that same stretch, which suggests they are controlling games without always threatening themselves.
Burnley arrive after a 0-0 draw with Bournemouth last weekend, which at least halted a run of defeats. Before that, they lost 2-0 at Everton and were beaten 4-3 by Brentford in a thriller, while also picking up a 1-1 draw at Chelsea in recent weeks. There have been flashes of competitiveness, but the broader picture remains difficult. Burnley have won only 4 league matches all season and have not recorded a win in their last 5 in all competitions.
Defensively, Burnley continue to struggle. They have conceded 46 goals in 30 matches, and even when they keep games close, they rarely look comfortable for long spells. Going forward, they have not produced enough either, though they have shown some signs of life going forward, especially in their 3-2 win over Palace and 3-4 defeat to Brentford.
The reverse fixture earlier in the season saw Fulham win 3-2 away from home, a result that showed how vulnerable Burnley can be when stretched. Fulham were able to create chances consistently in that game, and a similar pattern is likely here.
Fulham: OUT: Kevin (foot) QUESTIONABLE: Emil Smith-Rowe (knock)
Burnley: OUT: Jordan Beyer (knee), Connor Roberts (calf), Josh Cullen (ACL), Zeki Amdouni (ACL), Axel Tuanzebe (achilles) QUESTIONABLE: Maxime Estève (ill), Mike Trésor (ankle)
The sportsbooks make Fulham a clear favorite. The market is sitting around Fulham -175, the draw at +320, and Burnley at +550. Those numbers reflect the difference in league position, recent form, and overall consistency.
Score Projection: Fulham 2 - Burnley 0
Pick: Fulham moneyline -175
Confidence: 4 out of 5
Win Probability: Fulham 61%, Burnley 17%, Draw 22%
There is a case for a lower-scoring game given Fulham’s recent results and Burnley’s limited attacking output. Still, Burnley’s defensive record and injury concerns make the home win the more reliable angle. Fulham do not need to dominate the scoreboard to justify their price. A controlled performance with steady chance creation should be enough.
Game flow is also important. Burnley have struggled when they fall behind, as they lack the attacking depth to sustain pressure for long stretches. Fulham are far more comfortable protecting a lead, which makes the first goal a key factor in how this match unfolds. The Cottagers should control the tempo and create the better chances without needing to be at their absolute best. Burnley showed some defensive discipline in their last outing, but over a full 90 minutes against a more stable side, it is difficult to see them holding firm throughout.
The strongest case lies with Fulham being the more complete and reliable team in this spot. Burnley’s lack of wins and ongoing defensive issues make it hard to trust them to take anything from this game. Fulham should be able to break through at least once, and from there, their structure and quality gives them a strong chance to see the result through and secure all 3 points.
