The Winnipeg Jets head to Southern California to take on the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night. The Ducks enter this contest with strong recent play and home success under their belts, while the Jets are just trying to build consistent offensive traction and build on a win in their first game out of the Olympic break. Before this contest begins from Anaheim, continue reading to find my analysis, including my Jets vs Ducks prediction.
Pick: Anaheim Ducks to win ATS PRO
Confidence: 3.5 out of 5
Anaheim enters this game riding positive momentum after a thrilling 6-5 comeback win over Edmonton, highlighted by Cutter Gauthier’s late winner and continued offensive production. That victory marked their third in a row and extended a longer stretch of success overall, improving their standing in the Pacific Division. The Ducks are strong at home, boasting an 18-8-1 record. Winnipeg, on the other hand, has been up and down this season. They did win their most recent game, topping the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 in overtime in their first game out of the break, but overall their record reflects inconsistency both in scoring and defensive play.
Winnipeg is not expected to see Connor Hellebuyck in goal for this game after he became an American hero with his performance in the gold medal game for Team USA. Eric Comrie is expected to get the nod for the Jets, which is a substantial downgrade. Anaheim is expected to go with Lukas Dostal in net for this game after he also had a solid Olympic tournament.
For the Ducks, Cutter Gauthier and Leo Carlsson have paced the offense with power forward production, while Beckett Sennecke has also been a frequent scorer. Those contributors have helped Anaheim climb the standings and dictated play more often than not in recent weeks. On the Jets, Mark Scheifele remains the engine of their attack, and contributions from Kyle Connor and Gabriel Vilardi are essential if Winnipeg hopes to keep the puck out of their own net. Scoring beyond the top line has been a challenge for the Jets this season.
Score Projection: Anaheim Ducks 4 – Winnipeg Jets 3 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Anaheim Ducks 58%, Winnipeg Jets 42% ATS PRO
Both teams enter this matchup with something to prove, but the Ducks’ recent performance and home record give them a slight edge, especially when they can generate consistent offense. The Jets have shown the ability to compete on any given night, but scoring depth remains a question mark. Considering the offensive pedigree of Anaheim and the projected total, I'm taking the Ducks to win and the over to cash in this contest.
