The Washington Capitals will face the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena in Raleigh. The Hurricanes are sitting at 11‑4 on the season and are clear favorites over the Capitals. Will the Hurricanes be able to continue their current winning streak, or will the Capitals turn things around and get a win on the road? Before the puck is dropped in Raleigh, continue reading to get my Capitals vs Hurricanes prediction for Tuesday.
The Hurricanes have been strong out of the gate, going 11‑4 so far and performing especially well at home. Their offense is humming, averaging 3.87 goals per game, while allowing 2.80 goals per contest. The Capitals enter this game at 7‑7‑1 and they have lost two games in a row coming into this matchup. They are averaging 2.80 goals per game while boasting a defensively solid goals‑against figure of 2.47. Washington has also won only one of their last seven games.
Logan Thompson is 6-4 on the season for the Capitals. He has a very good GAA of 1.61, but his team hasn't done enough consistent scoring for his record to be dominant. Frederik Andersen will get the start in net for the Hurricanes here. His GAA is 2.97 and higher than that of Thompson. But his 5-3 record is comparable to that of the Capitals' netminder.
Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis have made a dynamic duo for the Hurricanes this season. Aho leads the team with 16 points and 10 assists on the season so far. Jarvis leads the Canes with 10 goals on the season thus far. Washington is led by Tom Wilson, who has 16 points and nine goals. Dylan Strome has also been a key contributor with 10 assists.
Player | Stat |
|---|---|
Seth Jarvis | Over 0.5 goals |
Dylan Strome | Over 0.5 points |
Sebastian Aho | Over 1.5 points |
Score Projection: Carolina 4 – Washington 2
Win Probability: Carolina 65%, Washington 35%
The Hurricanes should continue to roll on home ice against the Capitals on Tuesday night. Carolina is 5-1-0 at home on the season thus far and they have won four games in a row going into this contest. Expect the Canes to continue to play at a high level here and for them to cover the puckline against the Caps here.
