The Red Wings have been more consistent of late, winning three of their last five games. Detroit’s record stands at 25‑15‑4 and they sit near the top of the Atlantic Division. Vancouver is 16‑21‑5 and near the bottom of the Pacific Division. Vancouver comes in on the back of a loss to the Buffalo Sabres, which was their fourth straight defeat.
Detroit recorded a decisive 4‑0 win over Vancouver in their only meeting this season, with goaltender John Gibson stopping all 39 shots he faced. The Canucks offense has been below league average at 2.8 goals per game, while Detroit scores around 3.1 per game. Detroit should have the advantage on both ends of the ice here.
Detroit goalie John Gibson has been solid this season, logging a 2.94 GAA, including a shutout performance against Vancouver earlier in December. He leads the Red Wings with 14 wins and typically keeps Detroit in games. We should see Thatcher Demko in net for the Canucks in this contest. Demko's GAA is slightly better than that of Gibson, but he has a losing record thanks to the inferior talent around him.
Forwards such as Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond have been central to Detroit's scoring output, with that duo combining for strong goal and assist totals. Dylan Larkin contributes offensively and also helps Detroit play the puck up the ice. Vancouver’s offense has struggled beyond leading goal scorers like Kiefer Sherwood and Filip Hronek. With injuries affecting Vancouver’s top lines, the Canucks have less firepower to match Detroit.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Alex DeBrincat (DET) | Over 1.5 Points |
Lucas Raymond (DET) | Over 0.5 Points |
Score Projection: Canucks 2 – Red Wings 4
Win Probability: Canucks 30%, Red Wings 70%
I'm going to lay the puckline with the Detroit Red Wings at home on Thursday night. The Canucks have dropped four games in a row, with two of those losses coming by multiple goals. Expect Vancouver to struggle again here and for the Red Wings to pick up a second win in a row.
