On Tuesday, the St. Louis Blues (19‑22‑8) visit the Winnipeg Jets (19‑23‑6) at Canada Life Centre for an intriguing NHL contest that features two teams struggling to climb out of the Central Division’s lower half. Both clubs were shut out in their most recent outings and will try to bounce back in this contest. Here, I break down this matchup on the ice and give you my Blues vs Jets prediction.
Pick: | Blues ML ATS PRO |
Confidence: | 3/5 |
The Jets have lost two games in a row coming into this contest. That includes a Monday night loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, where the Jets were shut out by a struggling Chicago squad. St. Louis has been streaky, with a tough 5‑0 loss to Edmonton last time out and a 4-6-0 record over its last ten games. The Jets have home-ice advantage to rely on in this game, but they could be skating on tired legs after playing last night.
Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck has been the team's primary netminder, posting a save percentage of .902 with a respectable goals‑against average this season. Injuries have impacted the Jets’ defensive depth and Hellebuyck will try to make up for those shortcomings here. St. Louis is likely to turn to Joel Hofer, who has delivered solid outings recently, including a shootout win and a shutout earlier in the month. His save percentage is .905, and he will try to help the Blues get the win here.
For Winnipeg, veteran center Mark Scheifele has been a driving force offensively, often setting up scoring opportunities and contributing goals himself. Teammates, including Gabriel Vilardi and Josh Morrisse,y provide additional scoring for the Jets. St. Louis will miss top playmaker Robert Thomas due to a lower body injury, weakening their offense and putting more pressure on Jake Neighbours to deliver goals in this contest.
Score Projection: Blues 4 – Jets 3 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Blues 52%, Jets 48% ATS PRO
The Jets looked like they were starting to turn their season around, but they are struggling to find goals again lately. That and the fact that the Jets are on the second game of a back-to-back here has me leaning toward the Blues as my top pick to get a win in this contest from Winnipeg.
