The Islanders are riding high after finishing their seven-game road trip with a 5–0 shutout win over Detroit. Their record on the trip was 6–1–0 and they racked up 12 of 14 possible points. Their penalty kill went 22-of-24, and they delivered scoring from several lines. At home, they are 4–3–1 this season, and New York is 7–1–1 in its last nine home games against St. Louis.
The Blues are struggling going into Saturday afternoon. They enter this game having lost four in a row. Their defense has been leaky and they’ve surrendered leads in key moments this season, including a recent 3–2 overtime loss to the Flyers after giving up an early lead. The Blues have secured a point in three of their last four games, but they will want to actually get wins instead of settling for a point at a time.
Ilya Sorokin has been outstanding for New York. On the road trip, he posted a 1.59 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage. He’s now just one shutout shy of tying the franchise record. Jordan Binnington is likely to be the goaltender for the Blues in this contest. Binnington is 4-5-4 this season for the Blues and he has an alarmingly high 3.30 GAA and an alarmingly low .872 save percentage.
Bo Horvat has been the driving force for New York offensively. He came out of the road trip with nine points (five goals, four assists) and he has recorded points in 10 of his last 11 games. Defenseman Justin Faulk is heating up for the Blues. He’s collected eight points in his last ten games and is contributing both on offense and in blocked shots. Faulk leads the Blues with six goals so far this season.
Player | Stat | Prop Prediction |
|---|---|---|
Bo Horvat (Islanders) | Points | Over 1.5 |
Justin Faulk (Blues) | Assists | Over 0.5 |
Robert Thomas (Blues) | Points | Over 0.5 |
Score Projection: Islanders 4 – Blues 2
Win Probability: Islanders 58%, Blues 42%
The Islanders are playing some excellent hockey of late. I'll bet on that continuing in this game from New York. Look for the Isles to build on their highly successful road trip by winning as a slight favorite here against a Blues team that has lost two-thirds of its road games early in the year.
