The New York Rangers head to Philadelphia on Monday night for a Metropolitan Division meeting with the Philadelphia Flyers at Xfinity Mobile Arena. While these rivals are separated by more than 10 points in the standings, the season series has already delivered several close results, and that trend could continue here. Philadelphia enters this Rangers vs Flyers game in stronger form and remains in the playoff race, while the Rangers are trying to salvage pride in a season that has slipped away after a difficult stretch since the start of the new year.
Pick: Philadelphia Flyers Moneyline ATS PRO
Confidence: 5 out of 5
The Rangers arrive after another rough outing, losing 6-3 against New Jersey in their most recent game. That defeat continued a difficult stretch where New York has dropped 15 of its last 19 games. The club has struggled to defend consistently and has not done enough scoring during that span to make up for those defensive issues.
Philadelphia has produced steadier results and recently secured a 4-3 shootout victory against Pittsburgh. The Flyers have won four of their last five games, an encouraging stretch that has helped keep them in the playoff race in the Metropolitan Division.
This game could feature a quality duel between Igor Shesterkin and Dan Vladar. Shesterkin has posted 19 wins with a .912 save percentage and a 2.50 goals-against average this season. When he is on his game, he remains capable of stealing a result even when New York struggles offensively.
Vladar has delivered solid numbers for Philadelphia with 20 wins, a .907 save percentage, and a 2.40 goals-against average. His recent performances have been a key reason the Flyers have stayed competitive during the second half of the season.
Score Projection: Rangers 2 – Flyers 3 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Rangers 44%, Flyers 56% ATS PRO
While rivalry games between the Rangers and Flyers often produce tight finishes, the current trajectory of both teams suggests Philadelphia holds the advantage here. The Flyers have received steady goaltending from Dan Vladar and continue to get production from players such as Travis Konecny and Trevor Zegras. Meanwhile, New York has struggled for consistency and continues to deal with roster instability and injuries. Igor Shesterkin gives the Rangers a chance if he delivers a standout performance, but I will take the Flyers, as I don't think Shesterkin will be enough to cover up New York's shortcomings.
