The New York Rangers will head northwest to face the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night in the NHL. Both of these teams have played mediocre hockey so far this season and will be hungry to get a win in this matchup. Before this inter-conference matchup begins on the ice, continue reading to get my Rangers vs Oilers prediction.
Goaltending has been a real strength for the Rangers. Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick both have GAAs of 2.25 or less heading into this matchup. Shesterkin will likely get the start here and try to get revenge on the Oilers in this contest. Stuart Skinner is off to a nice start to the season for the Oilers. He is 3-3-1 and has a 2.41 GAA.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Connor McDavid | Over 1.5 Points |
Leon Draisaitl | Over 0.5 Goals |
Adam Fox | Over 0.5 Assists |
Score Projection: Edmonton Oilers 4 – New York Rangers 2
Win Probability: Edmonton Oilers 62%, New York Rangers 38%
My best bet for this matchup is for the Edmonton Oilers to win and cover the puckline at home against the New York Rangers. The Oilers already have a two-goal win over the Rangers under their belt this season. I would expect them to get another win by two goals or more here, as their explosive attack should be able to create separation against a Rangers team that is struggling to generate goals, with just 2.18 goals per game so far this year.
