Key Storylines
Recent form
Seattle enters this game in a deep slump. They have suffered six straight losses, five of which have come in regulation. Their struggles continued Monday when they fell 4–1 to the Minnesota Wild. That was the fourth straight game where the Kraken allowed at least four goals and Seattle needs to be better defensively if they want to get a win in this contest.
The Kings have looked far steadier than Seattle. They recently snapped a two-game skid with a 6–0 routing of the Chicago Blackhawks, then followed that up with a 4–2 road win over the Utah Mammoth. The Kings enter Wednesday’s play in third place in the Paciric Division and they will try to inch closer to the top of the standings with a win here.
Goaltending
The goaltending matchup strongly favors Los Angeles. Their starter, Darcy Kuemper, is currently 10-6-5 with a .914 save percentage and two shutouts on the year. He has started the last four games, giving the Kings solid stability between the pipes. On the Seattle side, Joey Daccord gets the nod. He’s 7-7-4 but is struggling of late, as is the entire defensive group for the Kraken.
Key skaters
- Los Angeles: Adrian Kempe leads the team with 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists). His ability to contribute at even strength and in transition gives LA a reliable offensive trigger man.
- Seattle: Jordan Eberle is the top offensive producer with 9 goals and 8 assists. But the fact that nobody has scored 10 goals yet this season for the Kraken is a huge area of concern going into this Western Conference contest.
