Key Storylines
- Recent Form: The Devils have been impressive, winning three consecutive games. Two of those three wins came on the road, with the most recent of those victories coming in Jersey's home opener against the Florida Panthers. The Oilers are coming off a loss to the New York Islanders. The Oilers are 2-1-1 for the season so far and they will try to avoid a second loss in a row in this matchup.
- Goaltending: The Oilers' Stuart Skinner has been solid in the starting goaltender role. He is 1-1-1 and has a 1.97 GAA. Goaltending will be key for Edmonton here as they try to get their second road win of the 2025-26 season. Jake Allen has been thrust into the spotlight in goal for the Devils. Jacob Markstrom is out due to injury and is not expected back until November. Allen won his season debut in Markstrom's place and has a 1.20 GAA.
- Key Skaters: Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid are so important to the offensive success of the Oilers. Draisaitl leads the team with three goals and McDavid leads them with five assists. Final Thoughts
The Oilers may have the higher ceiling between these two teams. But I think that the New Jersey Devils are in a great position to get a win at home in this contest. The Devils looked very good in their home opener against the two-time defending champions. I think they will get the job done at home against the two-time defending Western Conference champions here as well.
