Edmonton Oilers vs Anaheim Ducks Prediction: Will Game 4 Be Another High-Scoring Game?

Updated April 26, 2026
The first-round series between the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks has quickly turned into one of the most entertaining battles of the opening round. Through three games, goals have come in waves, defensive lapses have been plentiful, and the underdog Ducks now hold a 2-1 series edge heading into Game 4 on Sunday night in Anaheim. After a wild 7-4 Ducks win in Game 3, the pressure shifts squarely onto Edmonton in Sunday's Oilers vs Ducks Game 4.
Recent form
Anaheim enters Game 4 riding high after scoring 13 goals across the last two games, including a dominant third period in Game 3 that flipped the script in that game. The Ducks have now won two straight in the series and are 3-2 in their last five overall, while Edmonton has dropped two of its last three and continues to show inconsistency despite having such great attacking players.
Goaltending
Neither team has received elite play in net. Connor Ingram carries a save percentage of .849 in the series, while Lukas Dostal has been slightly better at .874. Still, both teams are allowing over 4 goals per game in this matchup, which explains the inflated total and high-scoring contests.
Key skaters
Connor McDavid continues to produce at an elite level, finishing the regular season with 138 points and already contributing three points in this series. Leon Draisaitl remains a key offensive driver despite injury concerns earlier in the round, as he enters this game with six points in three games. For Anaheim, Cutter Gauthier has emerged as a major threat with two goals early in the series, while Leo Carlsson and Mikael Granlund fueled the Game 3 win with multi-point performances.
This series has taken on a clear identity: offense-first hockey with limited resistance in the defensive zone. Anaheim’s ability to capitalize on turnovers and generate sustained pressure was evident in Game 3, where they outshot Edmonton by a wide margin and erupted late. That trend is difficult to ignore heading into Game 4.
But I'm going to take the contrarian route in Game 4 of this series. My best bet here is the under at 7.5, which is a total that you rarely see in the NHL. We should see these defenses at least show up for this game, with a goal total of six of seven goals being the most likely outcome according to our projections.
