The Detroit Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres will meet in the NHL on Wednesday night in Buffalo. Detroit enters this game as one of the hottest teams in hockey. They will try to extend their current winning streak against a Sabres team that is off to a tough start to their season. Before the puck drops in Western New York, keep reading to get my Red Wings vs Sabres prediction.
Odds | Moneyline | Puckline | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
Detroit Red Wings | -105 | Detroit +1.5 (-275) | Over 6.5 |
Buffalo Sabres | -115 | Buffalo −1.5 (+200) | Under 6.5 |
Detroit is off to an impressive 5-1 start, averaging 3.3 goals per game while allowing 2.3 goals per game. Their goal differential is the best in the Atlantic Division to start the season and Detroit will try to extend its five-game winning streak with a win here.
Buffalo enters this game at 2-4 and has struggled to consistently find offense. The Sabres are averaging 2.5 goals per game while surrendering 3.0 goals per game. Buffalo is 2-1 at home this season and will lean heavily on their home crowd to propel them through this contest.
Alex Lyon of the Sabres has started all six games for the Sabres to start this season. He has a respectable 2.55 GAA and a .924 save percentage. Lyon will need to be great on Wednesday if he wants to outperform Detroit's Cam Talbot. Talbot is 3-0 on the season and has an excellent 1.78 GAA going into this Atlantic Division matchup.
Dylan Larkin has been a bona fide star for Detroit to start this season. He leads the Red Wings with 11 points so far this season. Larkin has five goals and six assists and is impacting winning all over the offensive zone. Buffalo's Zach Benson has been one of the best playmakers in the NHL early on. He has six assists and has been great at getting his teammates involved in dangerous positions to score.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Dylan Larkin | Over 1.5 Points |
Zach Benson | Over 0.5 Assists |
Score Projection: Detroit Red Wings 3 – Buffalo Sabres 2
Win Probability: Detroit Red Wings 61%, Buffalo Sabres 39%
The Red Wings have been very impressive to start this season and I think their winning streak will continue here. Detroit has been more consistent on both ends of the ice and they have done so against a very tough schedule. I'll take Detroit to win on the road in what is close to a pick 'em game from Buffalo.
