Game 4 of this first-round Stanley Cup Playoffs series finds the Colorado Avalanche one win away from a sweep as they visit the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday. Colorado has controlled the series from the start, building a 3-0 lead while allowing just four total goals across three games. Los Angeles returns home facing elimination, searching for any offensive spark against a disciplined Avalanche group that has been the best in the NHL all season. Before this game begins, continue reading to find my Avalanche vs Kings Game 4 prediction below.
Recent form
The Colorado Avalanche enters Game 4 winning eight of its last nine games and carrying a 3-0 series lead. They have also won 10 straight road games against Pacific Division opponents. Los Angeles, on the other hand, has dropped five straight overall and has struggled to generate offense, scoring just four total goals in the series. The contrast in form between these teams is stark and has been reflected in every phase of play.
Goaltending
Scott Wedgewood has been a difference-maker for Colorado, posting a .947 save percentage and a 1.28 goals-against average in the series. His play has shut down the Kings’ limited scoring chances. Anton Forsberg has been solid for Los Angeles with a .922 save percentage in the playoffs, but he has not received enough support. The gap in results is more about team play in front of the net than individual goaltending struggles.
Key skaters
Colorado continues to get contributions throughout the lineup. Gabriel Landeskog, Cale Makar, and Artturi Lehkonen have all produced key goals, while their depth has added pressure on Los Angeles. For Los Angeles, Adrian Kempe remains the top threat after a 36-goal campaign, but the Kings have not found consistent scoring from anyone but Artemi Panarin in this series, who has two goals so far.
Everything about this matchup points in one direction. Colorado has controlled possession, generated more high-quality chances, and received elite goaltending. The Kings have shown effort but lack finishing ability, and that issue becomes even more difficult against a team that limits mistakes as effectively as the Avalanche. The Avs should complete a 7-0 sweep of the Kings between the regular season and playoffs while covering the puckline in this contest.
