The semifinals at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games between Canada and Switzerland’s women’s hockey teams will decide which medals these teams play for in their next contest. Canada enters as a powerhouse contender with a dominant history over Switzerland in Olympic competition, while the Swiss arrive with confidence after an upset quarterfinal win over Finland. Will Canada play for another gold, or will Switzerland take that opportunity and drop Canada into the game for bronze? Continue reading to get my Canada vs Switzerland prediction here.
Pick: Switzerland +4.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: ★★★★☆
Canada’s women have looked strong throughout the tournament. They have won four of their first five games in this competition by four goals or more. But they were destroyed by the United States in their lone loss of the tournament. Canada will try to set up a rematch with the United States by getting a win here against a Swiss team that Canada already beat 4-0 in group play.
Switzerland’s path to the semifinals was less dominant, but in key moments they have delivered. In their quarterfinal, the Swiss skated to a 1-0 win over Finland, a victory highlighted by tight defense and very good goaltending. That result provides momentum beyond what raw statistics might suggest, though this is a much bigger test for the Swiss.
Canada’s forward group is deep and versatile. Natalie Spooner, Sarah Fillier, Julia Gosling and Daryl Watts each contributed offensively in the earlier meeting, and their balanced production makes it difficult for any opponent to focus defensive resources on just one threat. Sarah Nurse continues to be a pivotal contributor with her vision and ability to generate plays in key situations.
For Switzerland, Alina Müller has emerged as the spark, delivering timely scoring and expert leadership. While overall production numbers lag Canada’s depth, Müller’s impact in decisive moments cannot be ignored. Her pace and scoring touch give Switzerland a realistic opportunity to trouble the Canadian back line if they can create space.
Score Projection: Canada 5 – Switzerland 1 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Canada 92%, Switzerland 8% ATS PRO
Canada enters this semifinal as the clear favorite based on their dominant performance over Switzerland earlier in the tournament and their consistent offense. The Swiss have shown resilience and the ability to win tight contests, but the gap in execution and depth suggests Canada is poised to advance to the gold medal game with a strong performance. I'm going to take Switzerland to cover the puckline, though Canada should ultimately advance.
