The Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators will face off in the NHL on Monday night in Ottawa. The Bruins head into Monday’s matchup looking to break out of an early-season slump. The Senators are aiming to build on a recent two-game winning streak. Before the puck is dropped in Canada, continue reading to get my Bruins vs Senators prediction.
The Senators enter at 4-4-1 after a commanding 7-1 win over the Washington Capitals in their most recent outing. The Senators have won two games in a row, beating the Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers by a combined margin of 9-2 during that two-game winning streak.
The Bruins are off to a rocky start at 4-6-0. They are sitting in a tie for last place in the Atlantic Division alongside the Tampa Bay Lightning. Boston did get a win in its last game against the Colorado Avalanche at home. But they are 1-3-0 on the road and will try to get a rare win away from TD Garden here.
Veteran netminder Linus Ullmark has been in the crease for the majority of games for Ottawa. He carries a goals-against average of 3.11 and a sub-.900 save percentage in his appearances this season. Boston has leaned on Jeremy Swayman who is 3-3 on the year and has a 2.85 GAA going into this Eastern Conference matchup.
Boston winger David Pastrňák remains the focal point of their attack. He is leading the club in points with 13 and is providing most of their offensive production. Center Morgan Geekie has also stepped up with a team-best six goals so far. Ottawa's tandem of Drake Batherson and Dylan Cozens has asserted itself with a multi-goal game in the recent 7-1 win over Washington. Shane Pinto leads the Sens with eight goals and has a team-high nine points overall.
Player | Stat | Projection |
|---|---|---|
David Pastrňák (BOS) | Points | Over 1.5 |
Drake Batherson (OTT) | Goals | Over 0.5 |
Dylan Cozens (OTT) | Assists | Over 0.5 |
Score Projection: Ottawa 4 – Boston 2
Win Probability: Ottawa 66%, Boston 34%
I'm going with the Ottawa Senators to win at home over the Boston Bruins on Monday night. The Bruins have lost three straight road games after winning their season opener on the road against the Washington Capitals. Boston has been outscored 13-8 during the three-game road losing streak and their defensive woes away from home should continue here.
