The Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers will meet in an NFL Week 6 matchup on Sunday at Lambeau Field. The Bengals enter the game with a 2-3 record, having lost three consecutive games since backup quarterback Jake Browning took over for the injured Joe Burrow. The Packers hold a 2-1-1 record and are coming off a bye week. Here, I break down this contest and make my Bengals vs Packers prediction for Sunday afternoon.
Spread | Moneyline | Total Points | |
|---|---|---|---|
Packers | -14.5 | -1600 | Over 44.5 |
Bengals | +14.5 | +800 | Under 44.5 |
The Bengals' offense has struggled since Jake Browning replaced Joe Burrow, who is sidelined with a turf toe injury. Browning has thrown eight interceptions this season, including three against the Detroit Lions in Week 5. Packers quarterback Jordan Love has 1,000 passing yards through four games, with eight touchdown passes and just one interception. His efficiency and ability to keep the ball away from the opposing team should be more than enough to help the Packers get a win this week.
Cincinnati's defense has been porous, allowing an average of 29.8 points per game and conceding over 30 points in three of their last four games. The Packers' defense is coming off a game where they allowed 40 points in a tie against the Dallas Cowboys. But they had a Week 5 bye and have allowed 14.7 points per game in their other three games. Green Bay will be expected to get plenty of stops against a struggling Cincinnati offense.
It has become clear that the Cincinnati Bengals are not going to be a playoff team this season with Burrow missing so much time. The players themselves are going to give everything they have to win games. But it will be interesting to see if the Bengals start to explore options further down their depth chart at key positions and look toward the next draft.
Score Projection: Packers 31 – Bengals 17
Win Probability: Packers 80%, Bengals 20%
I think that the struggles of the Cincinnati defense will lead to this game going over its total at Lambeau Field. Cincinnati has been torched on defense lately, without their offense having enough firepower to keep possession of the ball and give their defense a rest. We should see the Packers put up plenty of points, leaving very little work for the Bengals' offense to do to get us to the total.
