Game 2 of the Eastern Conference first-round series between the Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers arrives on Monday night, after Cleveland’s convincing 126-113 win in the opener. The Cavaliers controlled the pace, dominated inside, and leaned on elite guard play to take a 1-0 series lead. Now, with Game 2 set for Monday night in Cleveland, the Cavs are favored to take a 2-0 advantage. Can Toronto adjust quickly enough to stay competitive, or will the Cavaliers tighten their grip on the series with another strong showing on their home floor in Raptors vs Cavaliers Game 2?
Cleveland enters Game 2 as an 8.5-point favorite after showcasing offensive efficiency and interior dominance in Game 1. Donovan Mitchell’s scoring and James Harden’s playmaking overwhelmed Toronto’s defense, while the Cavaliers’ size advantage created easy looks in the paint.
Toronto faces added pressure with Immanuel Quickley still dealing with a hamstring injury, leaving a potential void in shot creation and perimeter play. Without him, the Raptors struggled to generate consistent offense in the half-court, a problem Cleveland exploited repeatedly.
The Cavaliers have also historically controlled this playoff matchup, winning 11 straight postseason meetings against Toronto. That trend adds weight for bettors evaluating whether the Raptors can buck history on the road, even if LeBron James is no longer a factor on Cleveland's side.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Toronto Raptors
Stat | Raptors | Cavaliers |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 114.6 | 119.5 |
Team Field Goal % | 48% | 48% |
Rebounds per game | 42.1 | 44.4 |
Assists per game | 29.5 | 28.3 |
The numbers and recent performance point in a similar direction. Cleveland’s offensive efficiency, combined with its ability to control the interior and dictate tempo, gives it a clear edge again in Game 2. Toronto’s offensive ceiling drops significantly without Quickley at full strength, and the Raptors have yet to show they can consistently slow down Mitchell in isolation. I'll lay the points with the Cavs, as they should cruise to a 2-0 series lead before they head to Toronto for Game 3.
