The Sacramento Kings visit the Houston Rockets on Wednesday for a Western Conference clash that pits one of the league’s worst teams against a playoff contender. Sacramento enters this game with a league-worst record and plenty of issues on both ends of the court, while Houston has been a solid squad in the Western Conference and looks to keep pace with the teams above them. Here, I break down this matchup in the West and make my Kings vs Rockets prediction.
Pick: Rockets -15.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: 3 out of 5
Houston has a record well above .500 and sits in third place in the Western Conference standings, while Sacramento continues to struggle through a tough season with injuries and roster disruptions. The Rockets are coming off a commanding victory over the Utah Jazz where Jabari Smith Jr. scored 31 points and Kevin Durant added 18, showcasing Houston’s ability to get scoring from all over the floor. Sacramento snapped a long losing streak with a win over the Memphis Grizzlies, but their overall roster limitations have been evident all season.
Statistic | Sacramento Kings | Houston Rockets |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 110.3 | 114.5 |
Points allowed per game | 121.0 | 109.4 |
Team Field Goal % | 46% | 47% |
Rebounds per game | 41.4 | 48.5 |
Assists per game | 25.1 | 24.7 |
Score Projection: Sacramento 106 – Houston 124 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Sacramento 18%, Houston 82% ATS PRO
Houston is poised to take advantage of this matchup, given their stronger roster and statistical advantages on both ends of the court. The Rockets should control the tempo early, exploit Sacramento’s defensive lapses, and cover the spread with relative ease. I am going to lay the points with Houston in this Wednesday night NBA matchup.
