The Portland Trail Blazers visit the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night in a contest involving two teams that are struggling of late. Portland remains in the mix for a spot in the Western Conference play-in tournament. Brooklyn has struggled through a rebuilding year and will try to pull off an upset here. Before tip-off from Brooklyn, you will find my Trail Blazers vs Nets prediction below.
Game Snapshot
- Matchup: Portland Trail Blazers @ Brooklyn Nets
- Date & Time: Monday, March 16, 7:30 PM ET
- Venue: Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York
- Broadcast: NBA League Pass
Key Storylines
- Portland looks to rebound after a loss to Philadelphia in its previous outing.
- Brooklyn enters the night on a three-game losing streak and hopes to protect its home floor, where it is just 9-23 on the season.
- Deni Avdija continues to produce at an All-Star level statistically for Portland.
- The Nets rely on Michael Porter Jr. and Nic Claxton to anchor their offense and defense. But Porter is out of this game and that could prevent the Nets from getting things going offensively.
Key Players
Brooklyn Nets
- Nic Claxton plays a central role on both ends of the floor. The center averages around 13.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and more than 1 block per game. His rim protection and ability to finish near the basket make him essential to Brooklyn’s defensive structure.
- Drake Powell will play a key role in this game, with so many of the players on the Nets dealing with injuries entering this contest.
Portland Trail Blazers
- Deni Avdija has emerged as Portland’s top offensive engine with about 24 points, 6 rebounds, and nearly 6 assists per game. His ability to create scoring chances for himself and teammates drives much of Portland’s offensive production.
- Donovan Clingan provides a strong interior presence. The center averages more than 11 rebounds per game and contributes efficient scoring in the paint while protecting the rim.
- Jerami Grant remains a reliable scoring option, capable of adding 18 to 20 points on any night while stretching the floor with perimeter shooting.

Trail Blazers vs Nets Pick & Model Projection
- Score Projection: Trail Blazers 114 - Nets 108 ATS PRO
- Pick: Nets +10.5 ATS PRO
- Confidence: 3 out of 5 ATS PRO
- Win Probability: Trail Blazers 62%, Nets 38% ATS PRO
The Trail Blazers should be able to push the pace and generate enough offensive output to pull ahead late. But I'm going to take the points with Brooklyn in this matchup. This is the second game of a back-to-back for Portland, which should negatively impact them as they try to bounce back from a tough loss to Philly on Sunday. Expect Portland to win, but for the Nets to keep the margin inside of single-digits at Barclays Center.
