The Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic will meet in Game 2 of their playoff series on Wednesday night. The opening game of this first-round Eastern Conference series delivered a jolt that few expected, as Orlando walked into Detroit and controlled Game 1 from start to finish, securing a 112-101 win and stealing home-court advantage. The top-seeded Pistons now face immediate pressure heading into Magic vs Pistons Game 2 on Wednesday night, as a loss here would put the top seed in the Eastern Conference in real trouble in round one.
Game 1 exposed cracks in Detroit’s armor. Despite finishing the regular season with a dominant 60-22 record and a 31-9 mark at home, the Pistons struggled defensively and shot just over 40% from the field in the opener. Orlando, on the other hand, executed with balance and composure, with all five starters scoring at least 16 points in the win.
Another major factor is Detroit’s ongoing postseason struggles at home, having dropped over 10 straight playoff games on their own floor over the years. Meanwhile, Orlando enters Game 2 riding confidence after winning both its play-in finale and Game 1 in convincing fashion.
The key question now is about adjustments. Detroit is expected to respond with greater defensive intensity and improved shooting, but Orlando has already shown it can dictate tempo and win the rebounding battle in this matchup.

Orlando Magic
Detroit is still the better team on paper, and the expectation is a sharper performance after a disappointing opener. Cunningham’s scoring ability gives the Pistons a clear edge, and improved shooting alone could help them to even the series.
That said, the spread feels inflated given what unfolded in Game 1. Orlando’s balanced scoring, strong rebounding effort, and defensive discipline suggest it can remain competitive. Even if Detroit evens the series, the Magic have shown enough to keep this within single digits. I'll take the points here as the Magic should keep things respectable.
