The New York Knicks head to Houston on Tuesday night for an interconference showdown with the Rockets, a game that carries weight for both teams as the regular season winds down. New York is trying to stabilize things after a recent dip in form against stronger competition, while Houston has quietly built one of the league’s best home records. With both teams sitting in playoff position and posting similar overall records, this Knicks vs Rockets contest should be a tight battle with plenty on the line.
The Knicks enter this game with a strong overall record but some recent inconsistency. They have dropped back-to-back games and have struggled against top-tier opponents in March. Despite that, New York remains one of the more efficient teams in the league, ranking near the top in offensive rating and three-point production.
Houston, on the other hand, has been excellent at home with a 25-10 record and continues to trend upward late in the season. The Rockets are coming off a dominant win over New Orleans and have won several recent games by double digits. Their physical interior play and rebounding edge could prove decisive in this matchup.
Houston Rockets
New York Knicks
Stat | Knicks | Rockets |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 116.8 | 114.4 |
Points allowed per game | 110.5 | 110.1 |
Team Field Goal % | 48% | 48% |
Rebounds per game | 45.9 | 48.3 |
Assists per game | 27.4 | 25.1 |
This matchup is set to be a tight game. New York has the more polished offense and better ball movement, but Houston’s edge on the glass and home-court advantage cannot be ignored. The Rockets rebound at a higher rate and defend at a similar level, which could limit second-chance opportunities for the Knicks.
Another factor is availability. New York is dealing with injuries to key rotation players, while Houston’s core remains largely intact. The Rockets also bring more recent scoring consistency, averaging over 120 points in their last several games, while the Knicks have cooled off offensively against stronger defenses.
Expect a competitive game that stays close into the fourth quarter. However, Houston’s interior presence and home performance give them the slight edge. I'll go with Houston to win and cover the number on their home floor.
