Minnesota Timberwolves vs Washington Wizards ATS Prediction - 1/4/2026

On Sunday, the Minnesota Timberwolves travel to take on the Washington Wizards in an NBA matchup between a title contender and a team contending for the top pick in the draft. Minnesota enters this contest with momentum after a 125‑115 win over the Miami Heat, highlighted by 33 points from Anthony Edwards. But they will need to overcome any fatigue they are feeling from that game on the second night of a back-to-back here. To get my Timberwolves vs Wizards prediction, continue reading my thoughts below.

The Timberwolves come into this contest as one of the stronger teams in the Western Conference, with a 22‑13 record this season. Anthony Edwards has been the engine of Minnesota’s offense, averaging 29.1 points per game and playing at an elite level in recent games. Julius Randle and Naz Reid have also contributed consistently, with Randle being a physical presence who can score at all three levels. Rudy Gobert continues to anchor the interior defensively, while Donte DiVincenzo provides shooting from the perimeter.
Washington has struggled this season with a 9‑24 record but has been better lately, including back‑to‑back wins that have injected life into its campaign. The Wizards have won four of their last five games and will try to take advantage of the Wolves being on a back-to-back here. Key contributors include CJ McCollum, Alex Sarr, and Justin Champagnie, but injuries to Cam Whitmore and Kyshawn George weaken their depth chart entering this game.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Anthony Edwards | Over 29.5 points |
CJ McCollum | Over 18.5 points |
Naz Reid | Over 14.5 points |
Score Projection: Timberwolves 124 – Wizards 118
Win Probability: Timberwolves 75%, Wizards 25%
I'll take the points with the Washington Wizards on Sunday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota is a much better basketball team than Washington. But I think that the Wolves will struggle on the second night of a road back-to-back, at least enough for the Wizards to cover while the Wolves win outright.
