Key Storylines
- San Antonio’s injury setbacks: The Spurs will be without Victor Wembanyama, who is dealing with a calf strain and is expected to miss several weeks. This is a major blow, as he’s a key presence on both ends of the floor. On top of that, Stephon Castle (hip) and Dylan Harper (calf) are also unavailable, placing more pressure on De’Aaron Fox and the Spurs' supporting cast.
- Memphis’ depleted backcourt: The Grizzlies are also in a bind. Ja Morant remains out, and other ball-handlers like Scotty Pippen Jr. are banged up, limiting their ability to run their offense effectively. The Grizzlies have a 4–10 record and they’re near the bottom of the league in several key offensive metrics.
- Bigs battle: Without Morant, Memphis will lean more on Jaren Jackson Jr. and Zach Edey. Meanwhile, San Antonio will need its frontcourt of Luke Kornet, Kelly Olynyk, and Jeremy Sochan to step up in Wembanyama’s absence.

Final Thoughts
San Antonio is the play here, even without Wembanyama. The injury to their star big man is huge for the Spurs, but this Grizzlies team is also far from healthy. Memphis' lack of playmaking and scoring, combined with San Antonio's depth in the paint, suggests the Spurs should be able to handle their adversity here. I'll lay the points with the Spurs in this nationally-televised contest.
