Key Storylines
- The Clippers have hit a rough patch, losing three straight and nine of their last ten games. Their season has been marred by injuries to key players. Kawhi Leonard remains out with ankle issues. Bradley Beal has been ruled out for the season due to a hip fracture. Derrick Jones Jr. is also unavailable.
- Charlotte is also reeling with a four-game losing streak coming into this game. Their turnover rate is high with an average of 15.6 turnovers per game. Now there are rumors circulating that LaMelo Ball is interested in being traded out of Charlotte. Things are not going well for the Hornets at this point in time.
- On the injury front, the Hornets are dealing with uncertainty as well. Grant Williams and Josh Green are out, Tre Mann is questionable, and Sion James is listed as day-to-day.
- From a broader perspective, Charlotte is still trying to establish a steady identity. They are leaning heavily on young scoring options early in the year. Kon Knueppel has emerged as a key piece as a rookie. And Miles Bridges continues to shoulder much of the offensive load as a veteran presence in the league.

Final Thoughts
Naturally it is hard to feel confident betting on either of these teams based on what we have seen from them so far this season. But I do think that the Hornets are the better play in the betting markets for this game. Charlotte is at home and has some hungry young talent to rely on. They should be able to win outright here against a Clippers team that is just 1-6 on the road to start the season.
