The Houston Rockets (1‑2) will visit the Toronto Raptors (1‑3) at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Wednesday night. Both of these teams are desperate for a win in Toronto here and will need more from their defenses in order to get that win. Before these teams play in Canada, you can find my Rockets vs Raptors prediction below.
Injury issues are impacting both squads going into this game. Toronto center Jakob Poeltl is listed as day‑to‑day with back tightness. Houston guard Fred VanVleet is out for the season with an ACL tear, depriving the Rockets of one of their veteran leaders. Forward Dorian Finney‑Smith is also out (ankle) for Houston.
Houston snapped a two-game losing streak to open their season by posting a dominant 137‑109 home win over the Brooklyn Nets in their last game. The Rockets have an explosive offense, especially after adding Kevin Durant. The question for the Rockets will be a defense that was torched by Oklahoma City and Detroit. Toronto is struggling at 1‑3 and looking for momentum. They defeated the Atlanta Hawks in their opener but have lost three straight games since then.
The Rockets average about 124 points per game and will try to put another big number on the scoreboard to win this game. Toronto has allowed over 120 points in three straight games. They have lost all three of those games and will need to be better on defense to avoid a fourth loss in a row here.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Kevin Durant (HOU) | Over 25.5 Points |
Brandon Ingram (TOR) | Over 19.5 Points |
Scottie Barnes (TOR) | Over 17.5 Points |
Score Projection: Houston Rockets 124 – Toronto Raptors 120
Win Probability: Houston 58%, Toronto 42%
The Rockets should be able to get a win on the road over the Raptors to get back to the .500 mark for the season. But I am going to take the points with the Raptors in this game. Both of these teams have struggled mightily on the defensive end of the floor going into Wednesday night. That trend should continue here and we should see the Raptors cover the number in a high-scoring game from north of the border.
