The Western Conference playoff race remains tight as the Denver Nuggets head to the desert to face the Phoenix Suns on March 24. Both teams are firmly in the postseason picture, and this meeting carries added weight with Phoenix trying to climb its way out of the play-in tournament positions. With elite shot-makers on both sides, this Nuggets vs Suns game could end up being the best on the schedule on Tuesday night in pro basketball.
Denver enters this game with one of the league’s most efficient offenses, averaging over 120 points per game and shooting close to 49% from the field. Their ability to generate high-quality looks through ball movement continues to separate them from most teams. The Nuggets also come in off a strong recent stretch, including a dominant win over Portland, where they controlled the game from start to finish.
Phoenix, meanwhile, has been solid at home with a 23-14 record and has quietly put together a string of wins in recent outings. The Suns rely more heavily on perimeter shooting and defensive activity, ranking higher in steals and forcing turnovers at a greater rate than Denver. However, their offensive consistency has fluctuated compared to the Nuggets’ steady production.
The biggest storyline centers on whether Phoenix can slow down Denver’s half-court offense, which is anchored by one of the most versatile stars in the league. If the Suns cannot disrupt Denver’s rhythm, they may struggle to keep pace in a high-scoring game.

Category | Denver Nuggets | Phoenix Suns |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 120.8 | 112.2 |
Points allowed per game | 116.4 | 111.0 |
Team Field Goal % | 49% | 45% |
Rebounds per game | 43.3 | 43.0 |
Assists per game | 28.5 | 24.7 |
Denver’s offensive efficiency is the key factor in this matchup. The Nuggets create high-percentage shots through ball movement and interior play, which puts pressure on Phoenix’s defense over the course of four quarters. While the Suns have the shot-making to stay within reach, their reliance on jump shooting can lead to scoring droughts. Still, I'm going to take the points with the Suns at home here, as they are a desperate team and should be able to keep this one within a couple of possessions.
