The late-season push in the Eastern Conference continues Tuesday night as the Charlotte Hornets travel to face the Boston Celtics at TD Garden. Charlotte enters the game riding a strong stretch with four straight wins and improved offensive output, while Boston remains near the top of the conference standings and continues to show why it is considered a title contender. With playoff positioning still in play for both sides, this Hornets vs Celtics game is an important one for both sides.
Charlotte enters this contest in excellent form, having won four straight games and eight of its last ten. The Hornets are averaging strong offensive numbers during this stretch, fueled by elite three-point shooting and improved ball movement. Their recent wins over playoff-caliber teams show this group is not just playing out the schedule.
Boston, meanwhile, has already secured a high playoff seed and continues to dominate defensively. The Celtics allow just 107 points per game, the best mark in the league, and have won five of the last six meetings against Charlotte. Even with occasional injury concerns, Boston’s depth and defense remain a major advantage.
Boston Celtics
Charlotte Hornets
Stat | Hornets | Celtics |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 116.5 | 114.6 |
Points allowed per game | 111.3 | 107.0 |
Team Field Goal % | 46% | 47% |
Rebounds per game | 46.2 | 46.5 |
Assists per game | 26.5 | 24.6 |
Charlotte’s recent form is hard to ignore. The offense is clicking, and LaMelo Ball is playing at a high level. However, this is a difficult road spot against one of the league’s best defensive teams. Boston has already shown it can slow down Charlotte’s attack, holding them under 100 points in a recent meeting.
The difference in this game comes down to defense and consistency. Boston allows fewer clean looks, controls tempo, and executes better in half-court sets. Even if Charlotte keeps things competitive early, the Celtics’ ability to limit scoring runs and close games should give them the edge. Laying the points with Boston is my top play for this important contest in the NBA.
